It's been years since I've visited Disney World and the first for my two children, 7 & 5 years. We are spending six days the first of March and staying on-site. Since funds are always in the center front what places would you recommend to eat at or make reservations to see. With all the restaurants, horseback riding, shows I just don't know what to shoot for. There is just so much to take in in these discussion forums, my head is spinning. Thanks for any help.

We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge. Can someone provide me with say the top five things that they wouldn't want their kids to miss while visiting Disney World. Dinning and other extra events. Thanks again..........

As far as eating with children that age, you might want to do a charector dinner. I would recommend Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace (MK) or Liberty Tree Tavern (MK). CRT is nice but with the new price increase which will start before you go, there is no way I would pay that much $ to eat there. Sci-Fi at MGM is also a neat place for kids to eat b/c of the atmosphere. Alot of people here rave about Ohana's for a family meal, but we have never been there.
Since this is going to be thier first trip to the world, I wouldn't stress too much about other activities outside of the parks. There is so much to do in the parks that you will have a hard time seeing it all and if you want a rest day and stay away from the parks, the kids would probably just love to swim at the resort.
I would also recommend getting a disney guide book, such as the unoffical guide or birnabaums going over some of it with your kids to see what they want to do/see/experience.

I agree with the previous poster.......go to the book store and get some books on WDW....Birnbaum's was always a good one to read. You will want to read up on character meals, children always like that.

My children always liked to eat dinner at Teppanyaki in Epcot....it is Japanese where they cook in front of you as you sit around the hot tables...if you get a good chef they usually put on a little show for the children and they have child portions as well.... The food is usually very good.....of course, if they like stir fry type of food.

Craig, if you are staying on site with two kids under the age of 9 and are cost conscious, I'd strongly recommend the Disney Dining plan. You'll be able to feed your kids (other than a quick breakfast in the room) for about 10 bucks a day for them, and 38 bucks a day for yourself, and you'll be able to eat at some pricey restaurants. Check it out.

If you decide to add the Dining Plan to your trip, I would recommend making ADR's (Advanced Dining Reservations) ASAP. We (3 adults) did the Dining Plan in October and we definitly saved a lot of money (over $400) over what we would have paid. On the plan each person received one CS (Counter Service) meal, one TS (Table Service) meal of an appetizer, an entree and a desert, and one snack each day. The adult cost for 2006 is about $38/person. The Dining Plan had made the TS restaurants more crowded than they have ever been, so making ADR's is important.
If you need to see menus to help in your decision they can be found at "allearsnet.com"
A great meal for kids is the Hoop De Doo Review at Fort Wilderness. It is a dinner show with singing, and dancing and corny jokes along with an all you can eat meal of ribs etc. If you do the Dining Plan, this would cost you 2 TS Credits per Person. It is really fun and totally Disney. We did this on our first trip years ago and my kids still talk about it.
Have Fun Planning
