We planning most of our days to be there at RD and then to take a mid day break and then go back to the park for dinner or for dinner at a hotel and then back to the park. We don't have hoppers, so what is your pick for dinner at HS?

Where are you staying? Children? So many variables would come into play here, in my humble opinion

If price isn't an issue, Hollywood Brown Derby. It's the only sit-down restaurant at DHS where I enjoy the food.

Yes sorry, we have 4 of our children with us for the trip, ds8, dd5, dd4, ds2 We are only planning one sit down per day we are on the regular DP. We are staying at ASMu family suite.

IMHO, having been to 50's Prime Time, Sci Fi Dine In and the Brown Derby, the only one I'd return to is 50's Prime Time. We had a blast! Brown Derby wasn't worth the cost, and while Sci Fi has an amazing atmosphere, the food was awful (sorry). Sure, 50's doesn't have high cuisine, but its tasty and satisfying. Brown Derby tries to be something its not. Sci Fi is a great idea, but needs a better menu/cooks.

I would LOVE to go there but I'm not sure how kid friendly it would be, I mean we don't have to do all meet and greet type of places but I just don't want to cause a problem for people who want to sit and have a nice quiet dinner.

I would do the Brown Derby

the best bet may be to head over to the Boardwalk for Kouzzina

In that case I'd totally recommend the 50's prime time.....even over Sci Fi. The seating at sci fi would make it diffult to keep up/be near the little ones. Again, just my opinion :-)

Yeah, the 4 kids and DDP thing does change things a bit. While I enjoy what I have at HBD, when you factor in cost it's not really worth 2 credits.

Prime Time is probably the best bet then. I didn't love it as a kid (the waitresses really really annoyed me) and the food isn't great, but the atmosphere is supposed to be fun.

Thanks so much I'm glad to have some input on this since there are so few places in HS to eat and none of them have a huge following like other places I hear about on this board.

Didn't I read that you said you could go to a nearby resort, too? If so, I'd recommend something in the Boardwalk area like the Cape May buffet or even Beaches and Cream. Then, it's a quick boat ride back to DHS.

Oh yeah, and get fastpasses for Toy Story Mania that day FIRST THING LOL. Have a blast!

Ok so the boat ride will take us to which resorts? BC? That is a great idea and the kids might really like the boat ride!

Thanks, lol, I have gotten the impression from many threads that we HAVE to do that at RD or we don't get on! I was thinking of sending DH to get the FP while I take ds8 over to the star wars thing where you fight ontage, he is a crazy star wars fan!

Be sure to pick up a times guide at the park, because the Jedi Training Academy might not start as soon as the park opens.

But yeah, I agree that Cape May Cafe would be a great choice if you feel like leaving DHS.

I think the Boardwalk is a good idea if you don't have hoppers. Even though we love Sci-Fi. My kids ask to go every trip. I think it's one of those places you have to try once. Not everybody has the same experiences that's why I take every review with a grain of salt. You may really like it you never know. We've done Cape May twice and it was very good. Captains Grill at YC is also very good. Can't forget Beaches and Cream! Have a great time.

Our choices & both need an ADR

50 PT dinner in DHS -very fun, great kids menu.

or

Cape May Cafe Clam Bake dinner @ the BC - but has many land-lubbers items and a great kids section. Bring your own crayons for the kids, they can draw on the paper table clothes. Sometimes from the CM, you kids may get a treat or their drawings. :goodvibes And the boat ride from DHS to BC is about 15 minutes (2nd stop - 1st stop is S/D) and very realxing and fun for your kids.
