We are debating between Boma an Crystal Palace for our dinner buffet.

We are on the dining plan for the first time and my wife is a picky eater. I'm slightly worried over the selection at Boma, mainly because she's not big on couscous and other traditional fare I'm seeing on the menu.

Which would you recommend for overall quality of food and variety of selection?

Boma tends to be for the more adventurous eater but they do americanize the food there.

My wife tends to be picky too and loves Boma.

I also love crystal palace

So basically my response probably won't help you make a decision :)

I have a clear answer for a dinner buffet. Boma is amazing IMHO!!! We didn't care for CP all that much but Boma is one of our favorites!

I am a picky eater myself. I LOVE Boma. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere can't be beat. I would give it a try at least once you may be surprised to find she likes it.

We enjoy CP but it cannot compare to Boma for us. We are a family of traditional, unadventurous eaters and our absolute favorite meal is always Boma. They just have soo many choices that I can't imagine not finding something you're wife would like and the desserts here IMO are the very best! The atmosphere is also so much better here at the beautiful AKL. A stroll around the resort before or after dinner to enjoy the animals also adds to the experience. We love Boma! :cloud9:

I've never been to Crystal Palace so I cant make a recommendation, but the buffet at Boma is huge. There are weird dishes (which are great!) but there are plenty of 'normal' things too.

BOMA!!! It was one of the most amazing dining experiences. Even if you don't eat a bite of food the atmosphere, architecture are amazing!!!! I have food allergies and one of the chefs came right to our table and I felt like a celebrity as she walked me through the entire buffet and explained each and every dish to me and even added little anecdotes, etc...for dessert she went next door and got me dairy-free sherbert from Jiko because most of theirs had dairy. The food choices are excellent. There is a huge variety to choose including adventurous and ordinary....we are going back again this August and taking the teens this time knowing they will enjoy it also.

Edited to add: if you are not or never have stayed at the AKL dinner at Boma would be a perfect opportunity to check out the resort as the architecture is truly spectacular and you don't have to be a resort guest to go to the public viewing areas of the savannah and if you time it right they have an African storyteller around the firepit.

OMG Boma hand down!!!! I don't think we will be doing Crystal Palace anymore. We're always very underwhelmed and since next time we do ( 2012 ) there will hopefully be a completed new restaurant in FantasyLand, I don't think we'll be bothering with CP anymore.

BOMA we *lovelovelove* however, the only drawback is that it's so far out of the way if you're not staying at AKL

We ate at Boma and will not be returning. The food was well prepared, it was just not to my taste. I am a fairly picky, meat and potato kind of person. I got enough to eat but really didn't care for a lot of the choices. My husband and daughter thought it was fine.

On the other hand, all three of us enjoy the Crystal Palace. A good variety of food and the characters are nice. Boma does beat it out for atmosphere though. The decor at Boma is absolutely amazing. We were staying at the AKL Kidani Village when we went but if you aren't staying at AKL, allow time for travel. It is a little out of the way.

We like them both. I am not a picky eater, but I prefer CP. My husband likes Boma better. If we were staying at AK, we would definitely eat there again. After our meal, we walked around outside and took photos of the animals. Definitely allow more time to get there - especially if you are taking Disney buses.

Another vote for Boma! You can't go wrong, even my picky 5-year-old niece was able to find plenty to eat. That was also the day Gammy introduced her to soda, so she was a bit wired. :rotfl2:

We've found that we don't really care for any of the dinner buffets at WDW. However if choosing between the two, we would definitely pick Crystal Palace over Boma - Boma had too many "flavors of Africa" type foods for us.

My vote would have to be for Boma's, if you like to try new foods and even it you do not, the atmosphere alone is worth going for , I do think Boma's choices offer something for everyone as it is a huge buffet. If it is charactors you want go to Crystal Palace, but we would much prefer dinner and a visit to see the animals on the savanah.

I love both places, but I'd pick Boma, since the type of food at Crystal Palace I can really get at home.

Oh, and they do have more "normal" items like chicken fingers and macaroni and cheese at Boma. :thumbsup2
