Any suggestions / opinions for Boma (which I know is Buffet, which I am not crazy about) versus Whispering Canyon? Thanks!

My family visited Boma on our last trip. Yes it is buffet but what an amazing gastronomic feast! Such wonderful choices and even my 6-year old who was a picky eater then loved it. You can't go wrong with Boma!

We are planning a visit to Whispering Canyon on our next trip as we are staying at FW cabins. I can't wait to try it!

I think they're both great choices!

Boma is the best buffet at WDW.

Whispering Canyon Cafe is one of the restaurants on my "I won't go back list". Tried it twice, that's enough for me.

WCC hands down!!

Will NOT go back to Boma, the flavors are not for us. All dishes are made with sweet spices such as cinnamon, vanilla and fruit flavors. Even the meat was rubbed with cinnamon. The soups all sweet, it was like eating a holiday dessert for dinner. YUCK. not our taste.

WCC is delish, it is one of our favorites. DH gets the skillet and I get the ribeye which is always good.
The antics are great, my husband loves to aggravate the servers and I love how close it is to MK.

Last trip we went to both. 4 adults and 2 kids (then 10 and 7). ALL of us did not like Boma. We liked WC and will be going back again this Christmas.

Why we didn't like it - crowded buffet, flavors, least favorite of all the places we ate that trip (WC, Mama Melrose, Liberty Tree Tavern, Tepan Edo, Le Cellieur, and Chef Mickeys) BUT it was worth visiting the lodge

We love WCC - great food! I really think it depends on your tastes. We love the whole idea of the skillet, so WCC really appeals to us. Plus that cornbread ... yum!

While I love the entertainment at WCC, Boma is AMAZING!! Best buffet in WDW and overall best restaurant.

We love Boma. Loved the food at WCC but my son was 6 the 1st time we ate there and the server took his hat off the table and hung it up on one of the overhead lights. (it is like a wagonwheel) He was upset that he wouldn't get his hat back. Kept asking us "how am I gonna get my hat back". Finally we asked for the hat back and the server said to my son "all you had to do was holla" and my son says to me I thought we weren't supposed to yell in a restaurant. Poor kid he was very confused that all the things he shouldn't do in a restaurant he was 'supposed' to do here! :confused3 Funny now!
Think about if your group would enjoy this kind of place. Boma is calmer and quieter.

Will NOT go back to Boma, the flavors are not for us.

:thumbsup2 Same here! Wow, I thought we were the only people in the world who disliked Boma! :lmao:

We've been at least 3 times and it never gets better for us. So we decided last time, we won't be back. $125/pop for the 4 of us is a lot of $ to keep trying to make ourselves like something.

But it's my Dad's favorite restaurant ... so next visit, he can just have a special date there with my stepmom. :rotfl2:

While I liked the dinner buffet at Boma, my stomach apparently didn't. So I'm not sure if I'd be able to go back.

I would vote for WCC. We've been there quite a few times and always have a good time.

Boma, Boma, Boma!!!

We ate at WCC once and it's not on the "we have to go back" list. It was fine, just wasn't impressed.

Now, I will suggest that if you don't normally eat ethnic foods and are terribly picky, Boma may not be a good choice. But it is NOT at all like a regular buffet. So many new things to try, great and interesting flavors. Regular food on the buffet too, and the desserts are wonderful. We go back EVERY time. :)

Hmmm....well Boma is a great buffet, it's actually one of my favorite restaurants in WDW...but then again so is Whispering Canyon. So it depends....buffet with African flavors? Or Western classics with a rowdy atmosphere? :)

I absolutely agree with both points.

WCC is the ONLY restaurant at WDW to which I will not return. It was poor quality, the antics were tired and forced, and it just did nothing for me.

Boma, while a buffet, is a unique experience and has many creative offerings, most of which are well prepared.

I would consider Sanaa at Kidani over Boma. Sanaa is on the ground floor of Kidani and has big levels loking onto the savannah. The animals come right up to the windows. The food is excellent, among the best we have had at Disney World and the service staff is amazing.

We always go back to WCC, tried Boma but found the food wasn't for me. I know some people love it.
