We are having dinner at Boma one night. Just wondering if we will be able to check out the hotel and see the animals as I am interested in staying at AK next time at Disney.

There are lots of open places to wander at AKL inside and out. Its a beautiful resort.

We've stayed there, and eaten at Boma several times. You'll love walking around the lobby and the hotel grounds. The animal viewing areas are really nice and it's so relaxing to watch them.

You must try the "zebra domes" for dessert-they're fabulous! Enjoy!

I've never stayed at AKL but have toured the resort. It's lobby is gorgeous and the viewing area for the animals is nicely done. :goodvibes
And Boma!!! One of our favorites places---I could skip right thru the dinner food stations to the dessert station and get my money's worth;) If you enjoy an adult beverage there's a very nice bar area up a set of stairs from where Boma and Jiko are located which is very comfy.:drinking:

AKL is by far our favorite resort. We could spend hours looking at the animals and wandering the lodge. It was so nice waking up in the morning and stepping out on the balcony and watching the animals on the savannah.

Plan on trying Boma on my first ssolo trip in Feb , how long should I figure for the meal and how are they for time with ADRs??? I will definately check out the animals and the resort. I have heard so much about Zebra Domes can someone describe them . I'm pretty sure I want to try them and the buffet at Boma has them right???

Note when sunset happens. You can't really see much after the sun sets (although they do have night viewing). We try and make time to see the animals BEFORE we eat at Boma, since its often dark afterwards.

Oh, zebra domes. Yes, the Boma buffet has them. I wouldn't get your expectations up too high. They are mocha mousse in a white chocolate ganache shell with a small peice of sponge cake on the bottom. I'm a dessert snob and the first time I had them they were stale and I was very disappointed. This last time they were fresher, they were OK, but I wouldn't put them down as fabulous.

I really like the Zebra Domes. But they are also sold in Mara (the food court :goodvibes ).
DH and my sister love the mango tartlets. The dessert buffet section is worth eating at Boma alone. Lots of choices and everything is great! :cloud9:

We ate at Boma just because of the Zebra Dome descriptions here, but I was disappointed in them, too. Maybe expectations too high? ;) The rest of Boma was wonderful...we got to AKL very early, and wandered around the pools & watched the flamingos, and wandered through the lobby & watched the animals...it is absolutely gorgeous!!!

Boma is a buffet so really you decide how long you want to enjoy! We always
had ADR's and they always seemed to be on time with very little wait.
Here is a link of a picture of those fabulous zebra domes! Enjoy!:wizard:

Boma is my favorite WDW restaurant (except for Jiko) but I am in a small minority. I find the zebra domes slimy. Don't like the texture at all.

If you're going soon, I've read in other threads there is some disruption in animals on the savannah due to DVC construction.

Nice to hear such good things! We are planning on Boma in March for the first time. We've never seen AKL either so it will be nice to check it out!
