Dinner better at Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace?

Enjoy CP for any meal but a trip just isn't the same without an 8am CP ADR on a day the MK opens at 9am.

I've done CM for both breakfast & dinner. Breakfast was OK but I didn't not enjoy dinner.

Let me also add, for a much better Mickey breakfast than CM, try Cape May Cafe breakfast! It was excellent :)
While I do enjoy Cape May there is no Mickey there. It is Minnie, Goofy & Donald all in beach wear.

Mickey is at Tusker House in AK and OHana at Poly.

I've only had breakfast at both places. They were good; characters were great. After reading this thread I'm going to try to book dinner at CP.

We had our worst meal on property at Crystal Palace for dinner...on my son's birthday no less!

We won't be going back there anytime soon.

Conversely... Chef Mickey's is a MUST DO every trip...generally we have dinner there the first night.

Interesting that people have strong feelings one way or the other.

We have not done Chef Mickeys in a few years. It was our very first experience (even before we hit the parks) on our very first visit to WDW. We thought it was magical with the characters. Food,...meh.

August marked our 6th trip in 6 years. We have experienced many Disney restaurants. Between the two choices, both of which we have experienced more than once....I would definitely pick Crystal Palace. We have eaten breakfast and dinner there. Our last meal on the August trip was dinner at CP. Delicious...AND it was free dining. Enjoyed both, but probably like the breakfast more. Like that strange, yet yummy, breakfast lasagna and the puffed french toast.

Wow, so many replies. I am still trying to decide. I think I'll stick to CP for breakfast. DD wants to try T-tex instead of Ohana for breakfast so maybe I'll try to replace Ohana with CM breakfast. If not I guess I can keep CM for dinner. I really want to try some new things this trip but it doesn't seem to be happening that way.

Thanks everyone!

Since the OP wants to have one for dinner and one for breakfast, here is my take.

CM's dinner is probably the less desirable of the two for dinner. I totally agree that CP is better for both but since you're doing one breakfast and one dinner I'd go for the lesser of two evils and have breakfast at CM and a delightful dinner at the CP.

Though I do think someone had a great idea if you're looking for a Mickey Breakfast. Cape May's breakfast with Mickey was outstanding. We got the first ADR of the morning and we were the third table that was visited. In right at an hour we had a nice breakfast, great photos and our bill was settled and we were walking through the IG at Epcot with smiles on our faces.

I find the food quality to be about the same. A buffet is a buffet.

Last time I was at Crystal Palace, a lot of my family complained it was too cold.

I'm not sure which is more crowded and hectic.

I only have done Chef Mickey's for breakfast, and that was many, many years ago.

I don't think you'll be able to decide based on the comments here...some are CP groupies and some love CM...I personally had 2 bad meals at CM and will not return. I've always been pleased with CP - not my favorite Disney dining, but one of the better places that are actually in the park....

While I haven't eaten breakfast at either restaurant, we have had dinner at both. Crystal Palace is the hands down winner. I don't know if Chef Mickey's was having a bad evening or what but the floors were dirty, the buffet wasn't kept clean and our server came to our table three times...once to take our drink order, once because we flagged her down to take away our plates and once to give us our bill.

Exactly the same experience at CM dinner in August. Terrible service, food was ok. We are taking newbies in Dec & My DD insists we do CM with them. I would prefer CP, but I have made a ressie for breakfast at CM. I hope our experience is better this time. :confused3
