Dinner at WDW with very small appetites

Okay, I have a question.

I have PS for Boma and for Ohana, but after thinking about it, I'm wondering whether that's really a good idea. Reason being: It's only DH and I, and neither of us can eat very much at a sitting before we're stuffed.

We both like trying new foods, and new dishes, but even normally (not WDW) priced buffets get their money's worth out of us.

So my question: is there a different/cheaper way to still get to try these cultures? We will be there during Epcot's Food and Wine, but it would be nice to have a few sit-down dinners. Or would Epcot F & W have enough variety, that we could do sit down for steak or something for dinner a few nights, instead of Boma & Ohana

Should I keep the PS's, and just pay the extra money, or try the Kona/Jiko route, and split a dinner. The drawback to splitting, is we don't get to try much. :(

*sigh* I thought that eating at Disney would be the easy part! And I keep just coming up with more questions!

Thanks!!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I wish I had your problems! (small appetite, if only)

I do think that the Food and Wine Festival
will be just perfect for you.
They had so many delicious and different things
to choose from in very small portions (one or two bites).

But you should try Boma. It may not be economical,
but you will be on holiday, treat yourselves.
Go and have a small bite of everything on the buffet.
Just the atmosphere and experience should
make it worth the expense.

I haven't eaten at any of the restaurants other than Boma for breakfast, but thought I'd chime in with my mom's tip for smaller appetites. She will often order two starters instead of a starter and a main course. This way she gets the full meal experience (especially if you're eating with 3-course meal people) without the expense. She has also remarked that the starters are often more interesting than the main courses!

I would switch to Jiko and Kona if I were you. I like to do the same as Joanna's mother sometimes too.

Another place you might consider is California Grill. Lots of different thinks to try and most courses are not too large.

Well, my husband I have small appetites and always share entrees when we do a sit down restaurant. At WDW, however, we don't worry too much about money and just go to the restaurants we want for the experience. Ohanas is one of our favorites even though we were mainly full after the appetizers. Buffetts are good because we just try a little of everything. Unless you're really worried about money, I would pick the restaurants you want to try and have a little of everything. Especially at the restaurants that you don't get to experience at home.

I agree with pnelson - if money is not a concern just go ahead and go tot he buffets. You can choose how much to eat, you will each get what you want, and you can try many different things. On theother hand, my in-laws split entrees at WDW sit downs, and they get PLENTY of food. Most of the entrees are huge, and you can each have an appetizer, too. And if that isn't enough, have dessert and coffee!

Enjoy - you won't go wrong either way! Have a yummy time!

I agree with what some of the others have mentioned. Disney has such large portions that I can never finish them but don't worry about it. We only get to WDW once a year and the food is one of our favorite parts so we just eat what we can and don't worry about it. Obviously if you are trying to save money this probably wouldn't be the best route but for us it has worked.

unless you could get two starters and split I don't think Jikos would be all that much cheaper since the starters are almost $10 each (unless one each would be enough) someone mentioned you can ask for a 1/2 order also..obvioulsy not at buffets but might be an option.

The sitdown restaurants like Jiko's probably aren't going to be much cheaper, plus you won't get to sample the variety of foods that you would at Boma. I say go for the buffet - its not all that expensive and you can just have a couple of forkfuls of a lot of different things. At a sitdown, you'd have to pick one main course (or a couple of appetizers).

As for Food and Wine, keep in mind that sampling your way around World Showcase can get expensive very quickly at $3-4 per item, though it is a neat way to try things from different parts of the world.
