We are planning a last minute trip (did get reservations), but sit-down dining is nearly booked.

We are able to get dinner at Storyteller's cafe.
We've never done dinner there, and we haven't been to Disney in several years, so we have no pre/post covid information.

We are a family of 4, include a 9 year old and a teenager.
I know its not a character meal, we are fine with that.
(I am great on the memories of my then-1 year old playing kissie with Minnie years ago.)

The question:
What is Storyteller's Cafe dinner like now?

We ate dinner there once and I wouldn't do it again. Food wasn't very good at all and it was pretty pricey.

I went there for buffet dinner on Feb1st. My reservation was right when they opened at 5pm.

I like there were only a couple of other people there for dinner at that time.
Meant the buffet wasn't over whelmed.
I felt the food options were nice, pretty good variety. Had to place a special order for the corn chowder. Loved the salads!

I was the only one in my server/waiter's area, so I had special attention.

It was cold that evening so I lingered in the Storytellers. I think I was there about 1.5hours. During that time there were very few people come in.

I'd do it all again. Storyteller's - Best meal of my whole trip!

Now, when I ate at the Carnation Cafe for lunch another day the food was COLD. This is usually my Go-To place but not anymore. Would rather skip it and go with 2-3 protein bars instead.

We had dinner there in November. We loved going there pre-Covid for breakfast. Dinner, however, was horrible. The food was mediocre at best. The service was lacking. They didn't even have proper dishes clean for some of the stuff we got. We got the food delivered in whatever they could find that was clean. The hostess even said as much, as she apologized. The cocktail tasted like it was made by someone who had never made a drink in their life. I didn't take more than two sips.

Would we eat there again? Not in the near-term, but in the long-term, yes, probably. We're hoping they get it together. Sadly, it wasn't our worst meal of the trip. That honor went to: Blue Bayou. They messed up so badly, that they didn't charge us anything.

I ate there in December and I thought it was pretty good, they had a good variety and we had good service, i would definately do it again.

Only having gone there for breakfast, I've done both the buffet and the table-service. Is dinner similar, buffet and table-service?

My family and I have eaten there many times since it opened in 2001. Last time was September, 2021. The buffet is quite good, with a variety of dishes. It is more adult oriented than Goofy's Kitchen, and is usually quiet with attentive service by the staff. The interior is very special with paintings and Craftsman style artwork that represent novels and stories set in California history. It is a very enjoyable meal--but it is not the Napa Rose, which is very fine dining with a price to match.
