Good evening!
we made reservations for the Rose and Crown for about an hour and 15 minutes before the IllumiNations show for our trip in September. Does anybody happen to know if we can ask for a patio seat when we arrive? If not, is there a way to see IllumiNations from the restaurant as we are finishing dinner- like stepping out on the patio, or would that crowd the people dining outside?

Thanks for your help!

You can ask for a patio table and sometimes they'll honor the request, while other times they will tell you that you'll have to take whatever table is available. It all depends on how busy the R&C is, how many other people have already asked and are waiting, which CM is at the podium, whether the stars are in alignment...in other words, there's no way of knowing.

Also some of the patio tables do not have a view of IllumiNations.

If you are seated inside the restaurant, let your server know you want to go outside to see the show and they will pace your meal accordingly. We were there in December, ordered our desserts, went outside for the fireworks, then returned to finish our dinner.

The outside viewing area is not the dining patio, but an area adjacent to it so you will not be disturbing anyone dining outside. It has a great view.

When I was there in December we were seated at an indoor table, so a little before the show started we went out to the viewing area and watched IllumiNations.

I think they prefer that you go to the viewing area (which is to the left of the restaurant) rather than go out onto the patio and crowd those patrons that are eating out there.

Here are a few pictures of the view:

I was wondering the same thing, and I don't mean to hijack the thread, but what is a good time to make a reservation with the anticipation of viewing Illumnations? Thanks!

Yes, they have a viewing area if you are in the restaurant and if you are lucky enough to be on the Patio you will be all set. The patio is small, so it is definitely too crowded for everyone to get out there to view them.

I would aim for about an hour or so before the show. You have to figure that you might have a few minutes to wait before being seated and if you book too close to Illimunations, many guests will not leave to free up a table and will slow down the meal in order to watch Illuminations.

In the same sense, if you book two hours early, you can find it very difficult to slow the meal down that much. While it is nice to watch Illuminations from the patio (we had the pleasure :thumbsup2) it is not the "best" viewing area. There are overhanging trees, if you aren't on the railing, people are in your way, other patrons will crowd your table, etc.

Thank you everyone for the information! I'm glad there is a viewing area- I didn't want to crowd or disturb the diners on the patio! :) Figment_jii, what awesome pictures! Is the outside viewing area for R&C diners very crowded typically?

Hi melbiel! I thought I'd pass along my reservation information from my call yesterday- we have a reservation set for 1 hr. 15 min. before the fireworks are set to start. That way there is plenty of time to "wait" after we check in, and hopefully be seated in plenty of time for the show. :)

Hope that helps! :)
