Is it possible to get a seat at O'hana without a reservation?

We wanted to go early (4ish?) on 4th of July.

Do they hold a set amount for walk-ins?

Thank you!

You can try it, but I wouldn't count on it. Anything can happen though. Make sure you have backup plans.

I was at 'Ohana 7/1 last year - first seating at 5:00 with a PS - and still waited a while for a table. They were turning away everyone without PS. The bartender said that they had been absolutely packed for weeks. I would definitely call for an ADR if you have your heart set on eating there.

Especially on July 4th, I think your chances of getting into 'Ohana without an ADR are nonexistent. Most table-service places don't hold any tables for walkups. And many, many people want to be in the MK area that evening because of the special fireworks.

Also, I seem to remember some people reporting that the MK area resorts were not even letting folks into the parking lots on July 4th unless they were resort guests or had an ADR. So if you were planning to drive to the Poly, you might not even get in.

Since you know the when and where, why don't you just make a reservation? In the summer it is almost impossible to get a table. If you really want to eat some place, make an ADR. :wizard:

Even during slow seasons in early December I've seen folks turned away at Ohana. Pretty slim chance of walk ups on July 4. You may still be able to get a reservation.
Also keep in mind that if you leave MK to eat elsewhere on July 4 you may not be able to get back in. This happened to a friend last July 4 when she went back to Fort Wilderness campground to check on her dog. They ended up going to Epcot instead that night.
July 4 is crazy at WDW by all accounts. We'll be there for the first time this year. We're staying away from the parks that day, but coincidentally we are eating dinner at Ohana this July 4. Maybe we'll see you there!

Wow!
I can't believe they don't hold ANY tables for walk ups, even in slow seasons.

I've already tried to get an ADR but they are totally booked until 9:40. Chef Mickey has an ADR at 8:20, terrible time, you can't see the fireworks and its not enough time to finish dinner. California Grill has that event that is $199/PER PERSON!! They are not even letting people on the observation deck.

Anyway I made a ADR for 1900 at 430 because its the only thing even close to the time I needed, not that I particularly want to eat there.

I'm glad to know all the problems with that day, still bummed about the Ohana thing.

Thanks for all the advice

I'm not sure if they used to hold tables for walkups and stopped when they started the Dining Plan, but it's really gotten tough lately. Last April, during a really-not-too-busy time, my Mom and I hadn't made ADRs, and boy were we sorry. We tried to find someplace to eat at or near the GF around 5PM one night, and were told by the concierge that not ONE table service place at the GF, CR, or Poly was taking walkups for the rest of the night.

At this point, I'd recommend ADRs for any TS meal that you want.

They don't hold tables - if it's already booked through 9:40 then it's very very booked. I wouldn't even try a walk-up, personally, but you're welcome to head over there and ask.

I'd make another reservation someplace else so you can eat that night =) THe place will be PACKED on July 4th.

Everytime someone asks the question "should I make an ADR" the answer is YES!!!!!! It takes 5 minutes to do and will ensure you getting a table. :wizard:
