Dining without ADRs (during free dining)

Generally an exception and not a rule and it can not be counted on.

Agreed...as a rule I think it would be difficult to count on the ability to get into most table service restaurants with no ADR during free dining. Does that mean it's impossible?? No...but IMHO the odds are not in your favor.

I think you meant for Sit Downs as counter services are walk up always, and no ADR's needed of course.
During FREE DINE especially I personally think it is crazy to pass ADR's unless you enjoy counter service each and every meal.
We made that mistake years ago and
NEVER AGAIN!!! It was awful having no where to sit and have a decent meal served. But counter services the ever present burger and fries was abundant, no thanks to that!

Seeing as how a lot of the morst sought-after restaurants appear to be completely booked during the free dining promotion, is it possible to still get in without ADRs? Like if you're willing to wait, will you be able to and eventually get seated or is it out of the question? I'm specifically talking about Ohana here, but as a general overview, how does this work?

I was lucky once. It was November 2005, Veterns Day weekend. We walked up to 'Ohana's around 8:40 pm with no resevations. We were told 45 mintues so we figured we could watch Wishes from the Poly while we waited. Less then 5 mintues our buzzer went off. We got a seat by the window looking at the castle. We watched Wishes from our table. We definatley had some Pixie Dust during that trip.

If I were you, I would just suffer through being forced to have your dinners scheduled. Make the ADRs.

We have ADRs for every day during our free dining stay. I was hoping that if we weren't able to get to the park or resort where the restaurant is located, that we could walk in somewhere else. Last vacation, twice we went to guest relations and canceled ADRs and made new ones for the same day.
