Dining was moved!!!

I’ve been dutifully checking for about 6 months every few days if I could shift to main dining (including at 6:45 this morning) with no luck. Just got a reservation confirmation email 2 hours later with the change to main dining!

Yes, it wouldn’t have been the end of the world if it hadn’t changed, but since we eat around 5:45-6:00 at home it just would have been a major change of pace.

Wonderful that we don’t have to try to move it the morning of embarkation.

Only 2 more weeks!

That's great news. Now you can plan on less tasking and more relaxing on embarkation day!

As I often mentioned on these boards, the dining managers finalize the dining assignments in the last month before sailing. That’s when they go through the main dining waitlist and shift guests that requested it. There is no need to worry about it all the time between booking and sailing since they do not work on this during that time.

Of course, you can get lucky and log in just after someone with one of the few main dining assignments available at booking just canceled, but the odds of that happening are slim. They only make a small portion of main dining places available during the booking process, and assign most guests to late dining. They then move those that requested main since those are the ones that truly want it.

It’s a relief isn’t it?

We just cleared the waitlist for our B2B Wish cruises and it was such a relief. I can’t eat after 7/8 without it being miserable

I was able to change ours for August a couple of days ago. I was so relieved! We eat around 4:30 at home, so main dining is late. Also, I have a heart condition and it worsens if I go to bed on a full stomach. I kept checking and one day it was just available.

yeah they don't go through these until a few weeks before sailing. ours just got changed about 3 weeks out. i hear so many people raving about late dining i wonder if i shouldn't have switched

Good to hear that! I'm still waiting for mine to move (I check daily to see if I can switch.). 6/18 cruise, so sounds like I still have a chance! We eat dinner at 6pm at home, so early is best for us. If we stay in late dining, we'll probably skip the entrees and just do appetizers and dessert.

There is nothing extraordinary about late dining. You might feel less rushed to get ready when coming back for an excursion, if you are not interested in the theatre show. Some believe there is less noise because most families with younger kids choose main dining, but that is not something we noticed. Adults are just as loud as kids, if not more, especially after having their showtime cocktail(s) or beer(s). The servers are just as busy, the food is the same... For us, it's strictly a question of the timing of our meals.

As adults or traveling with older children, we much preferred late dining -- less rushed coming back from excursions, quieter on board when everyone else was at Main dining, etc.. Now traveling with young grandchildren, we switched back to Main dining.

I've seen some reports of movement at 60 days and 30 days when people back out at final payment deadlines.

I always take second dining if I’m with an adult only party as I hate early dining, but always want first when I’m sailing with our three year old and six year old.
They get awfully grumpy if out late and this transfers to the next day too.
This next cruise in August we have been assigned second and are on the waitlist.
If we cannot change then dining is out altogether. We will have to rely on quick serve around the pool and room service.
How I wish Cabanas was open again so that we could go there and get a meal served to us early enough for us all to enjoy it.
