Not sure if in right part of forum for this but here is my question/dilemma...Going to Orlando for Honeymoon June 18-25,2012, we want to stay at Disney Resort but a value one, in particular the All-Star Sports as we are huge football fans and having a football themed wedding (GO GIANTS!!) as we don't expect to be in room much and we are on a budget for the honeymoon. Ok so here's my question...we want 5 day hopper tickets and were looking into QSDP vs OOP we won't have any table service fancy meals and we would rather take in our own water bottles and snacks(crackers/granola bars) and expect meals to be something like burgers/chicken platters/salads/personal pizzas etc (quick and easy) I was thinking OOP would be cheaper for 2 meals in the parks.. figured either bringing our own breakfast foods(granola bars/breakfast bars) but also interested in eating breakfast in resort if reasonable(suggestions?)..Sum it up... Question #1, if staying at AS Sports which do you Disney experts advise would be cheaper based on my above preferences assuming breakfast at resort, quick & easy lunches and dinners at parks taking in own snacks/drinks or QSDP? Question #2 If not doing DDP option and only resort would I be better to get tickets from UT separately for 5 day park hopper? Question #3 No discounts for room for my dates but may be something come March should I wait to book or book now and get rates adjusted so I have room reserved, as well as is booking thru Disney site the best option? I may have other questions that pop up because that seems to be the case so any other helpful advice is appreciated. Thanks

I would say look up how much per day the QSDP is......typically the food for lunches is $8-$10 per person and you get 2 at day plus 2 snacks snacks are about $4/per snack. I looked up the cost of your vacation its $2220.xx with the QSDP if you are doing oop instead, get room only its $1077 and tix would be $310.95 each plus meals oop so$1697. $100 a day for food is a total of $2097 AND if you buy the 5day hopper, you get a day free through UT....I would book the room now, and buy tix through UT it ends up being about $200 cheaper even if you buy breakfast at resort each morning! IF my math is correct lol its just an estimate. Room only code can still come out. If it does, call and add it:)

I believe that in 2012, the QSDP only includes 1 snack now, instead of two.

To OP, the benefit, IMO, of going with the QSDP is that you can budget ahead of time for your food costs.

We have done it and used a snack credit for breakfast (bagel, muffin, etc.) and then the two meals. We would even sometimes get fruit or veggies as our dessert with one of the meals to save for snacks or to eat with our breakfast. So, with the exception of a few waters, the QSDP paid for all our eating the entire time. Now, we did get 2 snack credits each day, but to be honest, we ended up with a lot of those left over at the end of the trip and just "bought" things to take home.

Since the plan comes with the mug, you will have all the soda, tea, hot chocolate and coffee that you want while you are at the resort.

While it may not save you a ton over the course of your trip, you won't also be worrying about the price of meals when you walk up to the counter. And, we tend to average $10 - $15/per person for a CS meal when there. For us, that tended to be the problem--we would look at the prices and feel like we had to share.

Good luck!

Thanks I think I'm leaning more towards OOP for right now as I feel we could share some of our meals anyways because the last time I was at Disney(12 yrs ago) with being in the heat all day and just the excitement I wasn't too interested or really hungry for that matter for a big meal so I feel we would be more forced to use all our credits with the DDP instead of just stopping grabbing something when we are hungry and be on our way. Plus since you can take in snacks and water bottles now, we would rather do that and have it in our backpack with us.The mug wouldn't help us at all as we are fairly healthy eaters and stay away from soda/tea 90% of the time and would rather have just water anyways. Thanks for all your guys help though. Any more opinions would be greatly appreciated.
