Dining themes-4 day cruise

HI.. I've been reading about theme nights. Do they have these on the 4-day criuse? Esp formal.. I would love to see my ds wear a tux.
I also thought I read here about the children wearing their costumes. When do they usu wear them? This is our 1 st cruise and I want to make it special for them. Thanks for any info.
Oh aand one more question (for now).. when do you find out which restaurants you will eat in during the cruise?

Disney told me that the 4-night does not have a formal night. It's all business casual.

And I think the theme nights are only on the 7-night cruises?

They also told me that you find out your rotation when you arrive which, from what I read on the boards, you can request ahead of time? Not 100% sure about that.

you can put in a request for your dining rotation ahead of time, but they'll tell you there's no guarantee you'll get what you ask for.

Technically you'll eat in all 3 restaurants in your 4 nights onboard ... the only restaurant you're not guaranteed to eat in is Palo's and that requires making ressies (adult only) as soon as you board the ship.

No formal night on 4 night cruise - they suggest sportcoat and tie (dress or skirt) for Triton's and Palo's, but I saw people dressed much more casually than that. The others are business casual attire (of course some people stretched the boundries here as well).

As for costumes for the kids - any night is good for that - a few little boys, but mostly little girls (princess costumes) - some older girls up to 11 or 12 I would guess. This is a great idea - if your kids would go for it, encourage it - they are really cute and this would be a great memory. If they balk at the idea at home, pack the costume anyway - they may change their mind once they see others dressed up.

Also, the wait staff make a big fuss over them - the characters too if you run into one while dressed up.
