We are staying at WLV in Martch 2006. I have a ds 6 and a dd 2. Any dining suggestions that would be magical for the kids? What dining options do we have on site at the resort? Is a dining package worthwhile for us? Do they save u money?
This is our first ever trip to WDW, so we are very excited!!!

Thanks
CHRISSI

The options at the resort itself include Artist Point, an excellent, upscale restaurant serving Northwestern cuisine; Whispering Canyon Cafe, a great, casual Western-themed restaurant, with lots of character; Roaring Forks, a small but sufficient snack bar that serves some fast-food type meals; room service; and some assorted counter-service options such as the pool bar and the coffee bar in the lobby. There used to be a Character Breakfast at Artist Point, but no longer.

Dining Packages are great for convenience, but not-so-much for value.

Have a great time.

i strongly recommend getting the Unofficial Guide to WDW 2006. It saved me over and over wrt meal planning, when to bring, when to buy, where to buy.

We like eating an early lunch at Cosmic Rays (we're in line before it opens) in tomorrowland (MK). but the UOGuide details everything so you can best make choices for your family. it's really a fabulous book. they also have a website: touringplans.com which gives additional touring plans based on your families needs. fe, there is a touring plan for 4-8 year old girls that i'll be loosely following this year (will have tourguidemike.com 's info as well b/c it makes for easier subbing.....but i like the UOG better) when you consider the money that you're spending on the vacation and food, it makes absolute sense to spend the $20 or so on the UOG, $22 or so on tourguidemike.com and the $7 for the additional plans from touringplans.com

we were able to see and do everything that our kids were up for *very* easily b/c of the framework that the touring plans gave us. and I knnew where we'd want to eat and where we wouldn't want to eat.

you can board search WCC or Whispering Canyon Cafe for a ton of info on this restaurant. haven't been there.....it sounds very very very loud, but very fun if you have the right server.

We just went on our first trip back in September and even though I'm 33, my DH and I thought each character meal was magical. The newest one is certainly making more boys happy and that is at 'Ohana where Lilo and Stitch now show up for breakfast! Eating in Cinderella's Castle is always a thrill too. I personally love the dining plan. Just my DH and I ate so much food between the two of us we certainly got our money out of it! Plus with this plan, you get to try places maybe you would never have before due to cost. I say go for it. Plan it ahead of time and when you get there, relax and enjoy your "prepaid" food if you will. Make sure and take the kids to at least 1 or 2 character meals for the "magic".
