Dining Suggestions

Hi all, looking for some recommendations for dining options. As posted in another thread I had some great difficulty making my reservations when the booking window opened. SO now we are left without reservations for the 2 most important meals on our trip, Breakfast on Nov 12th to celebrate our twin boys 4th birthday and Dinner on Nov 14th to celebrate my 30th birthday. We are staying at the Poly and travelling with a large group (8 adults, 4 children, 2 infants). Looking for any suggestions, originally wanted Chef Mickeys on the 12th and Be Our Guest on the 14th but those are not available obviously. Hoping someone here might have a suggestion I hadn't' thought of. My boys really enjoy the character interactions, not planning on going to a park that day though so restaurants in parks are not an option. On the 14th we plan to be in Magic Kingdom so anything in or around that area please!

On the 14th I would try for Kona since its in Polynesian- you could spend the day at the parks, then go back to resort for dinner and watch fireworks from beach.

For the boys birthday- what about Trex in downtown disney? Not characters I know but Ive heard its fun. For that one you should call Trex directly instead of booking through disney

1900 PF for the 12th? TRex for lunch would be a good one too. Then you can spend some time walking around afterwards. If you can't get TRex, consider signing up for Landry's club and that should guarantee you a table. Cape May is pretty good as well, Mickey's not part of the group. Or how about a dinner show? Mickey's Backyard BBQ? or HDDR?

On the 14th: Wave, GF Cafe, Artist Point, Whispering Canyon. Or maybe try for a BOG lunch? We still prefer lunch over dinner.

Not sure if you were planning to special order a cake. My kids really enjoy those, more so than some of the character meals.

The size of your party is what is working against you. You may have additional options if you can separate your party into two groups.

For your dinner reservation, you may find that you'd be able to book your large group at a signature resort dining location, like Artist Point or Jiko.

Breakfast with characters may be a tough one to get. Breakfast without the characters, on the other hand, shouldn't be difficult. Grand Floridian Cafe or Kona Cafe both come readily to mind.

Did you try Ohanu for breakfast reservations? they have the character buffet. I also suggest splitting your party into two groups. How about the Wave for your birthday dinner? You didn't say if you have a car or not. Artists Point at the Wilderness Lodge is very nice, but not sure if I would want to bring 4 children there. Liberty Tree Taven in MK is undergoing renovations, but is supposed to be open in the fall. The Plaza maybe?

You got some great ideas with previous posts. If you call Disney Dining directly, may be they can split up the party to get into your first choices. Otherwise, I think a large party would work great for dinner at Hoop Dee Doo or Cape May. Ohana's has characters. For breakfast, I like Kona. We've have great meals there for years. Crystal Palace or Tusker House are other good character meals.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Ohana for the boys breakfast was also an option but not available. I will look into some of your other suggestions! We do not have a car so will be using Disney transportation.

You're staying at the Polynesian, how about doing the Spirit of Aloha dinner show? That is 2 credits if you're on the dining plan, but it is a special event if you're having birthdays or whatever.

Your party is too large for Jiko. It would go to Cape May Buffet character breakfast, great food and character interaction.

Another vote for Cape May for character breakfast. I think the food is better than at Chef Mickey's.
