Dining suggestions for Vero Beach

Hello, were staying at Vero later this month and would like to try some local eateries more toward fine dining than roadhouse fare. Can anyone suggest some places in the area, we have a car so transportaton is not a problem.

Captain Hiram's (open air on water w/ bar; good Florida seafood)
Bono's BBQ
Vito's Italian

We got carry out from the above restaurants and ate at the resort. All were good. It's been three years ago so the specifics are foggy. We did not try any of the resort restaurants. The grill at the pool has decent burgers though.

We enjoyed The Ocean Grill and The Black Pearl (this was a while ago) they had fantastic crusted grouper to die for. There were not prices on the menu but the prices were very reasonable.

I was going to suggest Captain Hiram's too - it's INCREDIBLE!! We ate there on Easter Sunday, party of 13 and it was outstanding. The food is good, the view is beautiful and the atmosphere is 100% south central Florida beach.

My family has been visiting Vero Beach for decades. I like Captain Hiram's in Sebastian, but my very favorite in Vero Beach is Mr. Manatee's. The grouper chowder is amazing! I wouldn't call it "fine dining" but it still tops my list. (And it's on the water...river or canal) Ocean Grill is right on the ocean and is more upscale. If you get to Ocean Grill, wander a few doors over to the Driftwood Resort and have a drink at Waldo's. It's so unique. Have a great trip! I'm jealous!
