Hi,
I need a suggestion of where to eat after doing Animal Kingdom. I don't have the park hopper so it would have to be DTD, resort or AK. We are doing Tusker for b.fast that morning. AK closes at 6pm.

Also, just wanted to confirm that Rainforest Cafe isn't on the dining plan?? I think you have to have the platinum one? We just have the TS, CS, Snack plan that was with the free dining offer.

We have 3 kids 8 and under. The date I am looking for is on March 3rd. There is still quite a bit available if we can be flexible with the time we eat dinner

Thanks for any suggestions!!

We're planing on doing Earl of Sandwich after our AK day in March- also closes at 6. That way we can enjoy AK all day and walk around DTD the rest of the night or until the kids are done!

I have never tried this, but I always thought about going to the AKL for dinner because I have read it is a totally different experience. I think one of the restautants has story telling at the table or something.

Where are you staying?

Since you don't have hoppers, maybe a restaurant on the monorail? We love Ohana and if you time it right you may be able to dine during Wishes. They pipe in the music and if you are sat by a window you can see the fireworks.
Obviously the window seats are luck of the draw, but still it might be worth it.

We are going to go to T-rex after our day at Animal Kingdom. This is one of the suprises that my boys don't know about!!:thumbsup2

We are staying at POR Riverside. One of our only options since we are a family of 5. The only time available for Ohana is 9:45 that night and Chef Mickey is 9:30. I was hoping to do an earlier dinner since AK closes at 6pm. We will have a car. So I guess I am open to anything that would be easy to drive to from AK.

I did also think DTD could be a good option since we could spend the evening walking around after dinner.
Thanks for all the suggestions :)

Yes those ressies are late. If you are going to DTD anyway, we love Wolfgang Puck's Express. (the marketplace one).

It is CS but once you order you are treated like TS, where they bring your food to you and refill your beverage.
We love it, had such good food there.

Another choice that we like is Earl of Sandwich, we both love this place but we find it for lunch better than dinner. But others have it for dinner, just a preference.

Good luck and have fun!

If you go to Animal Kingdom for the full day, it could make kids pretty tired. We really like Yak and Yeti in AK Park and I think you can get a reservation near the time of park closing and finish after 6pm, that way it's not taking time away from park fun. My 2nd choice would be to go back to POR for dinner and call it an early night... making it easier to get up in the morning to make a park by rope drop or morning magic hours.

Never been to DTD... just seems like mostly shopping and restaurants. I'd rather spend time at the parks.

T-rex looks so cool! I tried getting it for our day at AK for dinner- since AK closes early. But no go, so I booked it for lunch on our DHS day-emh pm day. Last night I found a thread with a direct # to T-rex, so maybe I can book it for my AK day and have a full day at DHS...we'll see...

I have heard fabulous things about Boma. It always has some of the highest ratings for a restaurant in WDW.

I do have to admit I haven't been there yet for dinner, but we did have breakfast there and thought that it was one of the better breakfasts in the World. (and I had my two kids 6 and 3 with us)

Since you have to take a bus to a resort to get to DTD anyway, whether you decide to eat there or not, you should probably check out Animal Kingdom Lodge. The kids will probably get a kick out of the set-up of the place and looking at the animals on the savanna.

If you decide to eat there, your kids would also probably like Boma. It seems to be a family favorite and gets a lot of rave reviews from parents.

We always go to Boma at AKL after our AK day. The buffet is set up in pods and there is so much to choose. There is a children's section, but they can eat the rest of the buffet as well.

A bonus is the AKL is just gorgeous and you may see animals there as well.

Thanks for everyones suggestions! For now I made a reservation for Boma @ 6:55pm. I would have liked to do rainforest but I am only eating at places on the dining plan. I need to look at the menu at Boma to make sure it will be good for us. Or else we will do the restaurant at POR. It could be good to get in early that night we are doing Epcot the next day.:yay:

I was also going to suggest Boma, especially if you have the Disney Dining Plan. It would be one table credit each. I don't normally like buffets, but Boma has some great choices and the lodge is really beautiful. There is also Sanaa, which is on the Kidani side and it's really pretty inside. This is a good choice if you like curries or tandori, and they do have the standard kids menu (pizza, mac, etc). Since you have a car you could get there pretty quick from AK. Another solid choice is Raglan Road in Downtown Disney again - 1 table credit. If you are looking for QS meals, then I would also recommend Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD or driving to one of the resorts that you always wanted to see, but haven't and having QS dinner there. Have fun planning!

That sounds great! Thanks! How far is AKL to AK? I have always loved looking at the pictures of the resort and it would be fun to see it.

We did that last year. It was a little less than 10 minutes from AK Park to AK Lodge. There is some fun stuff to do there if you time it right... I remember they had African Folktales or Stories around a fire pit, and animal watching with night vision and stuff like that. AK Lodge's gift shop is nice, lots of stuff. We dined at Jiko, it was nice but with 3 kids, I'd pick Boma - would be more fun. Jiko was kind of more formal and quiet (2 DDP credits too).

There's also some Santa minigolf courses not far away right by Blizzard Beach... we were going to do that but never got to it this last trip.

We are eating at Sanaa on our AK day!! I think eating at the lodge with the animals just adds to the experience of the whole day!!!

I have heard great things about BOMA too, and was tempted to try it but I cannot resist dinning next to a view of the Savannah they offer at Sanaa!!!

AK day always means Downtown Disney that night for us! We love Pardiso 37 and Wolfgang Pucks (the downstairs but not counter service). If you are using Disney transportation, it is easier to get back to your resort from DD than AKL.

Boma at AKL is a good choice. While at AKL, take advantage of some of the things they have going on. Explore a bit, it is a beautiful resort and after eating at Jiko on our last trip and checking AKL, we decided to stay there on our upcoming trip (we usually stay at POR).

Another option would be after your AK day, go back to POR, shower and what not to wake yourselves a little bit and have a CS meal there. For your desserts, grab something that you can save for another day (i.e. Mickey Rice Krispy treats). After dinner, enjoy the boatride to DTD and treat the family to ice cream at Ghirardelli's. The ice cream is awesome. For whatever reason my girlfriend and I have always gone to Ghirardelli's on our AK day.:goodvibes

I'll cast another vote for Boma, or Sanaa. We like both, and if you haven't had the chance to check out AKL yet, you definitely should!
