Dining Rotations

I have been reading about requesting dining rotations. This is our second cruise. The party will include 4 adults, a 5 year old, and a 6 year old. What are the advantages of requesting certain dining rotations and what would you recommend? I did know this time to request early dining and that request was granted (we hope).

Personally I think PLA is the best rotation. You are in Lumieres on the first formal night and in Parrot Cay on Tropical night.

I am assuming you are on the 7 day Eastern.

What is PLA and what is tropical night? What is the advantage of being in Parrot Cay on tropical night?

Yes we will be on the 7 day (St. Marteen, St. Thomas/St. John, Castaway Cay).

Parrot Cay
Lumieres - Formal Night
Animators Palate
Parrot Cay - Tropical night
Lumieres
Animators Palate - semi formal night
Parrot Cay


Tropical night is Tuesday - St Maarten day. You can were your 'island attire' to dinner. Tropical shirts, dresses, etc. I think the no shorts requested is still in effect.

Being in Lumieres on the 1st formal night was one less 'dress up' night. Is was fun being in Parrot Cay (the tropical themed dining room) on Tropical Night.

Everyone has their own opinions about what they liked but this was our favorite.

I also prefer PLA for Eastern Itinerary. I like wearing my formal clothes to the fancier restaurant (Lumiere's) and I like being in the Tropical Themed Restaurant (Parrot Cay) for the tropical night in St. Maarten.

What night is formal night and what night is semi formal night? Does it go by the dining room that you are in or by 2nd night, 4th night, etc?

On the Eastern formal night is Sunday and semi formal is Thursday. Tropical night is Tuesday. It does not matter which restaurant you are in the 'theme' is for all.
