dining rooms - everyone gets same courses at the same time?

BIL seems to think that in the dining rooms the ENTIRE room first gets appetizer, then all get their meal, then all get their dessert. I thought we were assigned where and when but we could whenever we wanted. Does anyone need to wait for anyone else? DS often gets his main meal when DH, DS and I go out for dinner so he has something to eat while DH and I begin with an appetizer.

When you get your courses mainly depends on if everyone at your table is seated for dinner. Your servers only worry about you, not what everyone else in the dining room is getting at that time. If you have another party at your table, but they haven't come to dinner yet you could ask your server if you could start eating. Also, we have always asked our servers to bring DD and DS main courses out a little early-they never like any of the appetizers. Just let your server know your preferences the first night and they'll take good care of you. We also let our servers know about our drink and food preferences (I like chicken and chocolate) the first night and they have always had our drinks waiting. One server even made our kids chocolate milk with chocolate syrup when they ran out the last night of our cruise!
