I just got back from a really fun, but short trip to the world. My sister, 2 year old DS and I just got back. Here's where we ate.
WEDNESDAY
FOUNTAINVIEW CAFE - 2.0
We ate lunch here so that everyone would remain "civil" after a morning of travel. It was ok, nothing spectacular, just chicken sandwiches and nuggets for DS.
NORWAY/FRANCE - 4.0
We decided to have pastries for dinner so we had school bread which was great, the pepper was different, but didn't take away from the taste. In France, we had some sort of yummy pastry. It was a 3 way split all the way around. What's better than dessert for dinner?
POP CENTURY FOOD COURT - 2.0
We had the nachos, they were OK, nothing to write home about.
THURSDAY
CHEF MICKEY'S CHARACTER BREAKFAST - 3.0
The food was good. I especially liked the breakfast pizza or lasagna (I think that they called it that). Character interaction was pretty good and it got us in the mood for Magic Kingdom.
LIBERTY TREE TAVERN - 4.0
We both had the Colony Salad and cleaned our plates! I also (thanks to this board) requested the rolls. Of course, I lathered the butter (it was sooooooo good & sweet) on roll after roll. Afterwards, we split the butter grilled pound cake and left another empty plate. I would definitely eat here again and again and again.
TANGIERINE CAFE - 3.5+
I used one of my last Q & C vouchers. Still full from earlier, we split the chicken and lamb platter. Neither of us cared for the hummus, it had a strange aftertaste, but the couscous and the salad was excellent. Overall, it was a good meal.
FRIDAY
DONALD'S BREAKFASTOROUS - 4.0
We loved it here and we both liked it better than Chef Mickey's. The apple dessert thingy was especially yummy, I had seconds! I also liked the cheesy potato bake which was a little spicey. Our server was Mike, best of the trip! He got me with the ketchup trick
. You go to the buffet first and the moment that you spot a character, you immediately go back to your table and the characters come through once, just once. I understand now why some people may not care for that but since I usually only have about 30 minutes before DS gets ansy, it worked for us.
TUSKER HOUSE - 4.0
We both had the fried chicken sandwiches and split a carrot cake (nice & sweet) like I like it. The salmon looked good, something to try next time. I would definitely eat here again.
COLUMBIA HARBOR HOUSE - 0
YUCK! I used my last Q&C voucher here, what a waste. Again, we split a meal - the fried fish and an apple pie. The fish was dried and inedible and the apple pie wasn't done. I wanted a to go bag since we were going to claim our seats for the fireworks. I just wanted a bag and they were quite unhelpful. Needless to say, I won't be back!
SATURDAY
WHISPERING CANYON CAFE - 4.0
We both got the all you can eat canyon skillet and everyone liked it - even DS who hadn't eaten that much. I even liked the sausage and I usually don't eat sausage. We ate until we were stuffed to the gills, it was shameless, but we were happy. My sister got the bottomless strawberry milkshake and said that it was yummy. Our server wasn't really into the antics, but that was ok. Lunch was pretty tame, they just did the stick pony races and attempted to embarrass a few "unsuspecting" patrons. We wanted to order dessert, but could barely roll out of there as it was.
MAMA MELROSE'S - NR
In all fairness, we were tired, hot (they really need some shade in that park) and cranky when we got here. We were also still full from lunch. I'd originally reserved a FDP package for 7, but had had enough of Disney Studios so I cancelled it and just ate at MM's early (before 6). The appetizer bread was good. I liked the chicken flatbread (sans the pancetta) while sis didn't really care for it. Even DS ate the crust pieces. She liked the calamari and I thought that it was tasteless. We'd ordered drinks, I didn't like the bellini, while her italian surfer was much better, MUCH. The truffle cake was good, just really, really small.
