Dining Reviews Sep 2008 & Feb 2009 Update 8/13 - Complete!

More!!

Please do Rainforest and brown derby SOON! I'm going there in 2 weeks:cool1:

How does your fiance feel about your solo vacations? What happened to him taking you to the GF?

My DH would hate if I went without him. He likes to experience things with me, instead of me going off by myself. Even if he doesn't think he will like it, he still gives it a try.

There is no way I could eat at a TS alone. It would make me sad that I didn't have him there to share it with. You must be more independent than I. :worship:

What restaraunts were best for dining alone (just in case I ever get up the nerve)? :goodvibes

Can't wait to read more!!! :) :) :) :) We loved the Brown Derby  ; I hope you did as well.

He had health problems, so the trip was cancelled. He doesn't mind me going alone, in fact, I think he's glad I don't make him go with me since he really doesn't "get it."

My DH didn't "get it" at first either, but after he went he saw what "it" was all about. :thumbsup2 We are both big on trying new things and experiencing what the other person enjoys. If we aren't going to do things together, than what is the point of being together???

I hope he gets well soon. :grouphug: I would never have been able to leave DH if he were illl even if were just a cold.

When is the wedding? You must be so excited. After DH asked me, it was all I could talk about (I still about him alot now). :lovestruc

Now, on to the reviews!!! :cheer2:

Why would you want to go so far away while the one you loved was ill?
The trip that was cancelled was last year, now he's fine, otherwise I wouldn't of gone.

I think it's good for people, even couples, to have different interests, and not have to be together 24/7.

I thought it was suppose to be over the summer.

We do things apart, but we go on vacations together. Before we lived together, we didn't get a chance to see one another very often, so when we did get the chance, we took it.

As for the different interests, that great. Still, we try to share them with one another.

I thought so too. I remember reading about it and the trip with a friend. It could not be too much before I joined.

DH and I would never travel without the other. We both enjoy each others company so much that we love to share our interests and over time get an appreciaton for the others interests.

The next day I spent the morning at Epcot. I had a 12:10 ADR for lunch at Coral Reef, which is at the Living Seas pavillion in Epcot. I arrived early, and had a short wait before being seated at 12:00.

This was my second time eating at Coral Reef. The first time had been almost three years before, and while I enjoyed my meal, I hadn't had any real desire to return. But, since I had the deluxe dining plan, and so many credits to use, and so many options as to where to use them, I decided it would be a good time to eat here again.

Coral Reef is surronded by a giant aquarium, so you are able to watch the fishes and other marine life as you eat. I know from a guidebook that the fish in the aqaurium are not the same fish that are served in the restaurant. I'm glad, because I really wouldn't like watching what I was about to eat. That reminds me of when I was little, I loved seafood, but I wouldn't eat flounder because I thought I would actually be eating Flounder, the fish from the Little Mermaid.

I was seated on the lowest level, one table away from the aquarium. I really think though that they should of left the aisle of that level open though, instead of putting a bunch of two-tops in. I know Disney wants to fill as many seats as possible, but it was just a little too crowded.

My server was Steven, he was nice, but I thought a little on the slow side. It was extremely busy though, and he had a very large party right near me, and I know from personal experience how difficult and time-consuming it can be to serve a large party.

I was served a loaf of ciabatta bread with balsamic-infused olive oil. It was very good bread, with a nice crisp crust, and nice chewy dough. I also really liked the dipping oil. There was way too much bread for one person though, as I was given a whole loaf, and seriously, who can eat that much bread? Not me.

While I was eating there was a lot of activity in the tank. A diver had swum down, and had presented a sign to diners on the other side of the room, and not one, but two of the giant green sea turtles stayed right by my table for most of the meal.

For my appetizer I had the New England cod cake. It was a decent sized cake, with a remoulade sauce. I thought the cake was rather bland, but the sauce was a little spicy, which I wasn't expecting, but it was good.

Before going to Disney I had pretty much memorized the menus, and I had decided on the mahi mahi, but I didn't feel like ordering it then, so I ordered the lobster salad instead.

This was a scoop of lobster salad served over mixed greens with a cup of lobster bisque and two small pieces of toasted baguette. It sounded, and looked, really good, but I did not care for it at all. I thought the bisque had a somewhat bitter and burnt taste to it, and I've had the bisque there before, when I ate there in 2005, and it was much better, so it may have just been an off day. I thought the lobster salad itself was pretty bland, and all I could really taste was salt. The mixed greens and baguette weren't bad, but they were just your basic salad and bread, and not what had gotten me to order the dish, but were sadly the best part of the entree.

For dessert, even though I loved the chocolate wave the last time I had eaten there, I stuck with my "order something new" rule, and had the butterscotch creme brulee. This was by far the best part of the meal, and I actually liked it better then the creme brulee I'd had at California Grill. It was very creamy and rich.

Overall, Coral Reef has a great atmosphere, but the food just isn't worth going there, unless it's for dessert.

DH & I are going to Coral reef on our first day (Dec 2) & doing the CLP package. We have heard mixed reviews , but decided to try it anyway because it will be a new place for us to try. I too have been reading menus & pretty much have my 10 days of food plotted out in my mind. It will be interesting to see if I change my mind. Great reviews with or without photos . I respect your choice.

I need food porn. I am only in for the food porn:rotfl2:

if she wants to post her pictures she will, but please, enough with the requests folks!

I love those sea turtles too, so cool. What's next?

The next review will be Spoodles. The list in the first post is going to be the order I do the reviews. Chronologically in order is just easier for me.

As far as the pictures go, I may post them later, or I may not, I haven't decided yet. But I want to get the reviews up awhile, before I start forgetting things.

I was thinking about getting that lobster salad at Coral reef in december but after reading your review I think I'll go with the mahi mahi. I had that the last time I ate there and enjoyed it.

Looking forward to your spoodles review. :goodvibes

Yay! I'm caught up with your report finally!

I just wanted to say, in the immortal words of Miss Cammie, aka CampbellScott, that party at Cape May were all Pootsnorkels.

I tend to go to the Yacht Club for the similar breakfast without the characters. And I think I'm related to Condorman!

I really loved the Yachtsman review. The last time I ate there was....gosh, my 30th birthday! I really need to go back there again! I better keep up before I lag behind again. :)

I'm loving your reviews, thanks for posting them. I'm sorry you are getting hassled on this thread, I really don't understand why. Please continue with your great reviews!!

Great review :)

Probably a silly question, but being so close to the tank did you feel you were being 'looked' at by other diners?
