Just got back from a great trip with DH and we ate some great meals! We were not on the dining plan, but used the DDE card sometimes. Here's the overview....
Oct. 7 - Mk for MNSSHP...we ate at CRT for dinner and it was really good. The bread and honey mustard butter was amazing! We had a great server named Alexis and he was really nice and helpful. I told DH that based on reviews and pictures from the disboards, the beef filets at all restaurants always looked the best, but he didnt' listen, so we decided to "split" our two meals. He got a caesar salad first, which was really good and came with a yummy asiago cheese crisp. Then he ordered the roasted chicken breast which came with a bread pudding and I ordered the fillet of beef which came with seasonal vegetables. Needless to say, my meal was delicious and Dh switched pretty quickly because his was good, but nothing special. I wasn't impressed with his chicken at all, but ate some anyway. Unfortunately, after this big dinner, we rode Space Mntn. which btw, has NEVER bothered me before, and I got dizzy and felt sick to my stomach and quite miserable for the last part of the night in the heat and crowds.
Total $50.76 (DDE savings $11.92)
Oct. 8 - Today we went to Epcot, and unfortunately, due to the late night and sick stomach, I was still not up to par. We ate lunch at the Electric Umbrella. DH got his first ever WDW burger (he usually gets hot dogs or chicken strips) which he didn't really comment on and a piece of cheesecake. I was not feeling great yet, so I got a fruit cup, which was really quite good, and I nibbled on DH's fries. For dinner, we ate at San Angel Inn and got the most excellent little table back in the corner by the water. Now...I dont' know about you, but when my stomach is upset, the last thing I want to think about is Mexican food, but I really really enjoyed this meal. I just got refried beans and rice hoping for some calming effects while still eating something stable. It was extremely tasty and did exactly what I hoped it would...calmed my stomach and filled me up. DH got the puntas de filete something. He said it was "good" but he was disappointed the meat wasn't steak-like as he thought. It was more like pot-roast and gravy which he isn't thrilled about. For me, I like pot-roast, so I probably would have thought it was great....so this one is just a matter of opinion I guess.
Total $28.93 (DDE savings $6.79)
Oct. 9 - Today was our split day - AK morning and MGM night. We did Donald's Breakfastosaurus on our last trip and loved it, so we decided to do it again. I'm not sure why so many people dislike this meal...it is hands down my favorite character meal. We really enjoy it....part of our enjoyment has been luck, because we have had the same EXCELLENT server both times. Her name is Lisa and she is just amazing...she's what you expect from Disney, always happy and having a good time. Anyway....the food was excellent as expected...I think their coffee cake is the best ever!
Total $30.66 (I can't find the original receipt telling our DDE savings.)
At MGM, we did the Fantasmic Dinner Package at Brown Derby!! First time we've gotten in this restauarant, and let me just say WHAT A DEAL on this package! We've done the package at H&V, but at BD, it can be cheaper to get the package than just eat the food! DH and I ordered the Cobb Salad appetizer which was good. Then DH had the Filet which he said was good, but not as good as CRT's filet. (BTW, his filet alone would have been $27, then add appetizer and dessert and you see how the dinner package is a great deal here!) I got the Pork Tenderloin, and oh my gosh was it good! It was probably the most delicious entree I've ever had...yummy yummy yummy. Then for dessert, DH got the cheesecake and I got the grapefruit cake. I really wanted the creme brulee, and I debated for awhile and decided I had to get the signature dessert, you know? I kinda wish I hadn't. I mean it was good, but it's sooo tart, I only ate a few bites. Ah well....I've had it now.
Total $81.13 (No DDE savings for dinner package)
Oct. 10 - This was the only day we had no ADRs planned and we kinda changed our plans around and ended up back at MGM for the morning. We ate lunch at Studio Catering Co. I was glad we did this because we ate there in June and it was soooo good I've been waiting to eat there again! For those of you who haven't tried this place yet, you need to! We get kid's meals actually, the grilled chicken wraps and they are soooooooo good!
They also came with applesauce and mickey crackers, so it's a really full meal. Excellent counter service! Then that night we went back to Epcot. I had big plans for trying the foods at the F&W festival before I got sick the first night and kinda ruined my appetite....so this night I at least got one thing I had really wanted to try. For dinner I got a Snanakopita from Greece which is a spinach turnover. It was really good! DH and I continued around to the America counter service because DH really just wanted a hot dog. So we got him a hot dog, fries and apple pie and I snacked on his fries and pie too.
Quite yummy. And of course....by Illuminations time we needed snacks and I always get snacks from Kringla for Illuminations. This time we got the strawberry cheesecake which was amazing. DH ended up wanted nachos before the show too, so I went down to Cantina de San Angel and got that too. Gosh...I just realized we ate quite a lot tonight!
Oct. 11 - This was our last day and we went to DTD to do DQ the first half of the day. So, lunch was on the 5th floor at whatever that restaurant is called...It was already 12:30 and we were supposed to be eating at 4:00 that night for dinner, so it was more of a snack than full lunch. DH got a grilled chicken sandwich that he said was good and I got the spinach and artichoke dip that was perfect for me as a snack. So back to Mk for another MNSSHP and LTT!! What a DELICIOUS meal this was! This was our first time at LTT and it was so excellent! They start you with salad and a strawberry vinigrette dressing that was great, and yummy rolls. Then they bring out the food - turkey, flank steak, ham, stuffing, green beans, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, oh man...it was all sooo good. Then, the dessert was warm cherry cobbler with ice cream! It was excellent! If you haven't tried this one, you need to!
Total $42.58 (DDE savings $10.00)
So that's our overall food experience. We had other things like popcorn and mickey bars, but mostly we didn't snack too much on this trip. We had so much candy from trick-or-treating at the Halloween party that we ate candy every time we went to the hotel room!
Thanks for reading!
