Its hard to believe that we were there less than a week ago ! We being myself (31) and my DH (35). :dog2: Things did not go quite to plan on this holiday as just over a week I had an accident with my back and ended up wheel chair bound. :sad1: Strange though having a different perspective on matters.

(We did not have any food package or meal cards, although we did get DVC discount at some places)

We stayed VWL for 8 nights,(appitizer) then we did the 3 night DCL cruise (Entree) and finshed off 3 nights at BWV (Dessert)

Roaring Forks - The counter service at WL :goodvibes
Having bought the mugs DH and myself used this counter service alot. The breakfast platter was very nice, (scrammbled eggs, bacon, hash browns and a bisciut? I think thats what it is called). Cesar Salad was also a fave along with the fruit cups they did. They always had a soup of the day and chilli. DH loved the chilli, :rotfl: and despite it reaching 97 he still ate it more than once with crisps. I had a really good clam chowder as well. Soup and chilli were also really cheap !

Whispering Cannyon - WL :rotfl2:
I should start this off by saying DH is a very shy and quiet person and I agonised over whether or not to make the ADR (5pm). But since we were staying there I plummed for it. ( PLus I had seen the photos of the skillet !!! :goodvibes ) We went there and to our relief we sat in a corner out of the main line of firing. I think our server gaged our level of enthusiam by asking us to say 'howdy'. She did the throwing of straws but not much else ( I had warned DH about the ketchup). We had the skillet. It was really good . To start with you get a salad that has a fab apple vinegarette and corn bread. Now we enjoyed the corn bread but it was not at all what we expected. It was really sweet like cake. DH said he would have liked it at the end of the meal with custard ( no offence meant). Just as we were finishing (and thinking we had got off lightly) our server came and made a pirate hat out of a napkin and put it on DH head !!! He went so red, :rotfl: she then gave me one. DH was so frightened he kept it on as we walked out incase any other servers shouted at him. :scared:
We loved the food but DH he would never eat there again !!! :earboy2:

Rainforest cafe (DTD)
After the WCC experience I knew DH would want to eat here. It was his fave restaurant. You couldn't make ADR here but thanks to the disboard I had got the phonenumber and called to make a reservation (8pm). I was soooo pleased I did as when we arrived 7:45pm people were being told the walk in time was 2.5 hrs. (it was a saturday night) A lot of people felt very angry as well as they had waited a lonngg time . We were seated at 8:10pm and did feel a little smug. The food was really nice we shared out starter chicken strips with a coconut curry sauce (yum) DH had his ususal stirfry thought it was very nice and I had the tropical paella that was good too.
We were too full for desert !
:goodvibes

Hope you enjoy reading will continue soon ... (back aching from sitting)

I think that my family is the only one in the US to make corn bread without any sugar. I make it that way because my mom did; my mom makes it that way because her mom did. I suspect that HER mom made it that was because they were too poor to add sugar. But nevertheless, I don't like it when it tastes like cake.

Thank you!! We leave Thursday. :cool1: We're staying at WL for the first time. I hadn't seen much about the CS there. I'm glad to hear it was good. We're also going to WCC. My husband, however is the opposite of yours. We are also going with Sil and Bil. Bil is exactly like my husband. Us wives and the kids should get a laugh or two from this one. I'm just hoping for a fun server.

Thanks for your review. Love your sense of humor! :rotfl: Can't wait for Part 2. :)

Nope. Our Cornbread is not sweet either. My mom has never added sugar either. I like my cornbread very crunchy and we fight for the corner's if my Mom makes it in square pan. Usually it is in her skillet.

I think it is a regional thing. I don't sweeten my cornbread and no one in my family (or DH's family) does.

I am sooo glad to hear you were able to have a good time despite your injuries. Sorry, that happened to you especially before your vacation.
I enjoyed your reviews and thanks for reminding me to call the Rainforest Cafe to make my seating arrangements. :goodvibes

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for posting.

your poor hubby! good thing he's a good sport. btw i like sweetish corn bread:)

I too didn't know you could make reservations at Rainforest Cafe until last night! I was reading my Passporter book and it said that. I called and made a reservation for Sat. Sept. 3 (Labor Day weekend) at 7:30pm.

My question: is this treated as an actual "reservation" like at a normal restaurant or an ADR like a Disney restaurant? We're just wondering if we'll have to wait long/get a beeper thing OR just get seated like the OP said.

Anyone know?

As you can tell, Americans put WAY too much sugar in their food. Disney is especially bad at this. I don't use sugar in cornbread at all but can completly see putting custard with a sweet cornbread. I personally prefer chocolate in Europe because it isn't as sweet as American chocolate.

Keep the reviews coming and glad your husband made it through WWC in one piece!

Hi :goodvibes
What happened to us was like I said our reservation was for 8pm. We arrived early and checked in with the elephant. They told us to wait until they called our name. ( Which is really funny anyway as noone in USA can pronounce our name :goodvibes !) Our name was called at about 8:05pm and we had to go to the gorilla room where there was a short line of people. From What I gather all the 'walk up' people when their name was called went in the elephant room line. This line was longer than the gorilla line.
We were seated approx 8:10 /8:15

Hope that helps!
I also hope you enjoy the RFC. Some people hate it others love it.
We love it !!!

Yes but I love peanut butter and Americans do great peanut butter.
I got a fab peanut butter cake from Boardwalk bakery, it was huge though and took 3 sittings to eat it !!!I also love the the sweets called Reeces? They are peanut butter cups. Have I got that right? I wish we could get them over here ( Or rather my thighs and stomach are glad you can't get them)!
Any americans who want to send me some are more than welcome ( he :goodvibes he).

I don't know whether customs would allow it but I could send you some choc in exchage !!!

How do you book RFC at DTD? We love it there (well DD2 does!) but the wait time is always terrible. Do you phone direct?

Thanks,
