I just got back yesterday and I finally decided to sit down and type out my dining reviews. The cast includes me, DH, and DS(10)-who ate mostly hot dog and pizza. We were on the dining plan and overall had great service. I will use a rating sytem of 1-4 green thumbs up, 4 being the best.
Wolfgang Puck Cafe-Overall our favorite meal. First of all i would like to mention we had a wonderful waiter, Nick. He was by far the best server of our trip. He brought out 2 kinds of bread and some olive oil for dipping. The white bread was good but neither of us cared to the bread with olives in it, we just don't care for olives. For appetizer we had Spinach Five Cheese Dip, BBQ Chicken Quesadilla, and the Asain Vegetable Spring Rolls. All of this was very good. DH's fave was the spring rolls, when I asked him why he just said they were different
. The Spinach dip was very good but almost too cheesy. There was so much cheese you couldn't taste the spinach. This came with a flatbread that had been sprinkled with parmesan cheese and herbs and then toasted. The dip was good but the flatbread was great, I could have ate it by itself. The quesadilla was also good, it had a strong BBQ sauce flavor to it. DH had Wolf's Steak, he said it was the second best steak he had ever had. It came with fries and onion straws, these were just OK nothing special. DS got the kids cheese pizza. I was expecting a generic Disney pizza but it looked like it had been wood fired. He wouldn't let us try it but it looked good and he seemed to enjoy it. I had the Veal Weinershnitzel. It was a piece of fried veal with warm red potato salad and some greens with a vinagrette dressing. The veal was just OK, not what I was expecting. The potato salad was boiled red potatos with a vinagratte dressing, it was very good. On to the desserts, DS had Make your own Sundae, it came with ice cream, whipped cream, a cookie, and other toppings. He didn't seem to like it so I tried it and I didn't like it either. The ice cream had a strong vanilla taste to it, so strong it was almost bitter. The caramel had a burnt taste and the hot fudge sauce was very bitter, seemed to be more "fancy" type of dessert instead of for a kid. DH had White Chocolate Cheesecake, he loved it, he raved about it the rest of the week and compared every other dessert to the cheesecake at WPC. I had the Carrotcake, it was very good but I was so full I couldn't really enjoy it. We showed up about 20 minutes early for our ADR and were seated right away. We were there about an hour and tweny minutes from the time we walked to the time we walked out. The only downside to WPC is the place is loud, really loud.
Concourse Steakhouse-We had really great service here but the food was mediocre. For appetizers I got the Pan Seared Scallops, I didn't really care for them. They didn't have much flavor even with the sauce. I'm probably not used to scallops being cooked correctly because I thought they were undercooked. DH had the Mixed Greens, this was just a variety of greens with some bacon and a honey mustard vinagrette, he said it was good. Ds had Onion Rings, ha said they were good. He let me and DH try one that didn't look as good as the others and we thought it was good also. The rings came with a horseradish sauce similar to what you would get at Outback but it was hotter. For the entrees I got the 7 oz filet, I ordered it medium and it came out medium well teetering on the edge of well done. I didn't want to send it back so I went ahead and ate it. It was OK but a little tough and chewy for a filet, probably because it was overcooked. The filet came with a blue cheese butter. I tried it with the butter and I thought it was too strong. It overpowered the flavor of the steak instead of enhancing it. The garlic mashed potatoes were Ok, I don't understand this fascination Disney has with leaving the peel in the mashed taters
. I hate biting into the peel, I guess it's more of a texture issue than taste but I hate it. OK off my rant and back to the reviews, Dh had the 10 oz New York Strip. His steak was also overcooked. I tried the red wine butter and I liked it. I tried some of it with my filet and it was much better than the blue cheese butter. It gave the steak a hint of sweet. Dh didn't care for it though. The side was some kind of steamed brocoli, it was OK. DS had the Cheese Pizza, it was good nothing special. For dessert I had Triple Chocolate Cake. It was a rich chocolate cake with some kind of chocolate mousse on the side with shaved white chocolate on top. Wow that's a lot of chocolate. The dessert was just OK. It was very rich but it was very, very small. To me the mousse just tasted like chocolate icing. Did I mention it was small. DH had Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee, it was not as vanilla as it should have been. It tasted more like egg custard than creme brulee. DS had a Mickey Brownie and said it was great. We were seated right at our ADR time. The meal itself took about an hour. We didn't feel rushed but I could see how some people might.
and a half.
I was hoping to do this in two parts but I may have to make it three. I didn't realize how long these reviews would be. I like reading reviews with as much details as possible so I am hoping to do the same. If anyone has any questions about where or what we ate, fire away and I'll respond ASAP.
