Just back from a great trip to the world and wanted to share our dining reviews in hopes of helping others make some decisions. We decided to try many new restaurants this time. It was myself, DH, DD(7) and DS(5)
Backlot Express - MGM (lunch). Burger, turkey sandwich and chicken nuggets. Turkey sandwich was very good and nice change from the typical fast food. We enjoy this restaurant for a quick lunch.
Ohana (dinner): This was our first time at Ohana and it is now our favorite restaurant. We tried to get PS for later in the trip, but they only had seating after 9pm. The food was excellent. All meats were excellent, however, we all loved the steak the best. The shrimp was also excellent. This is a must do from now on! Waiter staff was excellent and offered us other options for our DS who is not a big eater. We took him up on it and it arrived very promptly. The kids loved the games and they were spaced evening out so as to not completely disrupt the entire meal. We were very fortunate to have an excellent view of the castle as well.
Pecos Bill (lunch): Burgers with the toppings bar are excellent. DD tried the kids cold chicken meal and did not care for the cold meat, but enjoyed the carrotts and celery served with it. DS had the hot dog.
Biergarten (CP dinner): Another first for us and we enjoyed it. The food was different from the rest of the park food and there was something for everyone. The kids also enjoyed the dancing and entertainment. Like Ohana, it was timed so the kids enjoyed their meal and joined in dancing. We had a very nice couple from Florida who came to Epcot for dinner. It was nice chatting with them.
Princess Storybook Breakfast (Norway): This was our second time and we were quite disappointed this time. Although the carmel rolls were excellent the rest of the meal left little to be desired. The potatoes were crunchy and undercooked and the other items were somewhat cold. The character interaction was unbelievably rushed. They were going from table to table with very little interaction or discussion with any of the children. Certainly not worth the cost of the meal! We had an 11:10 seating, so not sure if they made a difference. I was hoping we would get more character interaction since they would not have to hurry up for the next seating.
Starlight Cafe (dinner): Another good counter meal. Ckn Caesar Salad, Ckn Sandwich and Ckn strips. A nice change from the burgers and we had an excellent view of the castle as it changed colors.
Beaches & Cream (lunch and dinner): Ate here twice as it is a favorite of everyones. DH and I split the Roast Beef Sandwich and the kids had grilled cheese. Everyone had enough room to split a Mudslide sundae (yum!)
Sci Fi (dinner): Had not eaten here in many years, so we decided to give it a try. Food was very mediocre and I personally found it very difficult to see my food. DH had the ribs, I had the chips and spinach dip appetizer with corn chowder, DD had the chicken kids meal, which was very very plain and DS had a hot dog. Will not return here.
Wolfgang Puck Express ( lunch): Another first and we really liked the pizza. We shared a Pepperoni and Mushroom and BBQ Chicken and a fresh fruit cup.
Crystal Palace (dinner): Had not eaten here in a long time, so we gave it a try. Everything was very good. Food was hot and tasty and the desserts were excellent. The Pooh characters took their time and played with the kids. Not sure if being a face character makes a difference, but the non-face characters seem to spend more time with the kids.
Tusker House (lunch): Another first. DH and I shared the Fried ckn sandwich and the kids had the mac-n-cheese. It was OK. I think I prefer Flame Tree better.
Big River (dinner): Another first and not very impressed. Meal was just OK and a little pricey for the portions. DH had the Chicken Alfredo, I had the Ckn Quesidilla (sp?), kids had the PB&J Sandwich and grilled cheese.
Le Cellier (lunch): This was our second time and we enjoyed it just as much. The food was excellent and the wait staff very friendly and helpful. Both times the waitstaff has been great with the kids. DH had the Steak Sandwich, I had the French Dip, DD had spaghetti and DS had ckn nuggets. Although I love the Cheese Soup, I had to pass b/c it fills me up and I really wanted to try something different. Of course, the pretzel bread can not be beat! DH found a new favorite beer, La Fin Du Monde!!
EPCOT Sampler (dinner): We could not decide where to go for dinner, so we decided to eat our way around sampling the items. Mexico - chips with cheese and sour cream and a churro (Our local Mexican restaurants make their own chips, so I was a little disappointed to find that the chips were your standard chips and the cheese was in a continer. We did not order the Nachos b/c our kids would have never touched them, so we kept them simple). China - DH ordered a sampling with beef - not sure what it was called, but it was tasty. Germany - Pretzel and apple strudel. Since we were full, we decided to head back to Mexico for another Churro and grab a seat for Illuminations. Next year we will circle the other side to sample the other countries.
Main Street Bakery (breakfast): We all shared 4 different pastries, which were all delicious.
Cape May Cafe (breakfast): Always a favorite with great food options and good character interaction. We did this our last day and it lasted us until we arrived at the airport at 5:45pm. (we did have an ice cream in between, but no other meal).
