I missed the meal plan by ONE STINKING DAY! But I still had some good/bad dining experiences.
Day 1:
Earl of Sandwich- AMAZING! I would have gladly paid double. I heard these sandwiches were great, but I thought the main charm was the cheap price (4.95). I had caribbean jerk chicken and my friend had the ham/swiss/bbq sauce/pineapple. Both were great. We split the chinese salad which was the best part[/COLOR]! I love ginger dressing and the salad was large! The homemade iced tea/lemonade was great and the Hawaiin smoothie was to die for!
Mama Melrose dinner: It was empty. We started with the brick ovenC aprino Cheese in a tomato basil sauce and rosemary garlic crostini $5.99 YUMMY!!!! 2 thumbs up!
I had the Wood-fired Chicken Pipette tossed with artichokes, peas, roasted red peppers in a basil and four cheese cream sauce $16.59 One of the best dinners on the trip! My friend had the Oven Baked Chicken Parmesan over spaghetti rigati pasta $15.99 just okay, nothing special. In fact, the pasta was a little tough.
And we split a full carafe of sangria. It tasted good going down, but I got a little sick from the mix. Maybe the Rockin'Roller Coaster right afterwars had something to do with that????
DAY 2
KONA for breakfast :
Tonga Toast - banana stuffed sourdough bread, rolled in cinnamon sugar with choice of ham, bacon, or sausage $8.99 Yummy... the crust was the best part. You can't eat a lot of this!
Beef Tenderloin Filet with Eggs - A juicy 4 oz. filet grilled to your specifications and served with two eggs your way, homefried potatoes, and biscuits $12.99 It was pretty good
Eggs Benedict served with home fried potatoes $9.99 Worst eggs benedict ever. I didn't like it at all. I'd rather have them at Bob Evans or Perkins!
Artists Point dinner Smoky Portobello Soup with Roasted Shiitakes and Chive Oil $7.00 My favorite soup probably EVER. I would go back again just for this soup!
Grilled Buffalo Ribeye - with sweet potato-hazelnut gratin and sweet onion jam $31.00 Tastes exactly like cow meat, but not quite as tender because it's less fatty. They don't put salt on the tables here. Everything could have used some. Our server was terrible !!!!
Grilled Beef Tenderloin with fresh corn cheddar pudding, watercress aioli and grilled asparagus $31.00 tasted okay, but all in all, we were very disappointed in the portions. The taste was nothing special either for 31.00 ! There were 3 asparagus spears and the corn cheddar pudding was a bland dollop. I would go back again for the soup, bread and a dessert, NOT for dinner!
DAY 3
Boardwalk Bakery: Breakfast Burrito - eggs, ham and cheddar wrapped in a tortilla $3.99 SKIP THIS ONE IT WAS GROSS !Cheesecake Brownie - $3.99 pretty good
Cantina de San Angel- Mexico counter: Plato Combinacion - chicken taco, beef burrito and a quesadilla served with black refried beans and Mexican salsa $7.49 It was okay. []I liked the quesadilla the best. The rest was okay, not great.]
Earl of Sandwich, yes again! The Original - fresh roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce
Caribbean Jerk Chicken - grilled chicken with a spicy jerk sauce and roasted red peppers I split these two with my hubby
My friends had the same. We shared:
Chinese Chicken - grilled chicken, Chinese greens, crispy won tons and tossed in our own soy and fresh ginger dressing
I really like this place!
BOMA DINNER WHAT CAN I SAY??? It is my favorite restaurant and it did NOT disappoint! The buffet offered prime rib, sirloin steak in an amazing sauce, salmon in BBQ sauce, great soups, great sides and best of all.... ZEBRA DOMES. I love it here.
DAY 4
We skipped breakfast and had light snacks.
Lunch: Sunshine Seasons the Land
One Entree Item and two sides $7.59 This was Chinese food. I had pepper steak and Lo-mein noodles and broccoli. My hubby had a pineapple chicken dish with noodles and mixed veggies. My friend had the spicy chicken. All were good. We were starving.
There is also a bakery here that isn't listed on Deb Wills menu site. I had a fruit tart that was to die for! My hubby had an apple tart and he loved it. We shared a strawberry bavarian cream dome later and that was great too. I'm not a big sweet eater, but these were very good. My friend's creme brulee wasn't very good though. It tasted like an orange cream ice cream bar and too creamy, not custardy. Is that a word???
Dinner:
Roaring Forks (we were so tired) !!! 3 parks in one day... we were off to the Magic Kingdom later. We had: Philly Steak with French fries $6.69
I'm from Philly... it tasted good but it was NOT Philly Steak! We're sensitive about our cheese steaks!
Hamburger w/ French fries $5.99; double cheeseburger $7.09 Just okay
and later that evening we had the pizza. Just okay.
In summary my favorite meal was BOMA, as usual! And I highly suggest Earl of Sandwich and the Portabella soup at Artist Point. I might not be worth the trip just for soup, but it was amazing none-the-less.
Happy Eating folks, I hope it helps!
