I have been meaning to write reviews as a Thank You to all of you who wrote them and which I used. Coming back to reality was difficult ( a death in the family and DS and DS laid off from their jobs) and so I was delayed.
The Cast of Characters: Me Grandma, DS, DIL, DGD 5, DGS 3. We were on the Dining Plan, but also paid OOP for some meals.
4/23 Arrival Day. Staying at the Poly
Early dinner ADR at Kona Cafe, based on the reviews here. Dinner was great and DIL was impressed with my recommendation
We each ordered an appetizer and we all tasted each. I started with the Crab Cakes which were really good. DIL had the Pot Stickers and she and DS enjoyed them (I did not try them) DS ordered the Sticky Chicken Wings which were really good.
For entrees we chose: Me - Beef Teriyaki, ordered medium rare and cooked to perfection, it was really good. DS had Shrimp and Scallops which he enjoyed, it looked very good. DIL had the Macadami Mahi Mahi and she loved it. DGD had Peanut Butter and Jelly - a treat for her since her brother has a peanut allergy and there is no peanut butter at home. DGS had Spaghetti and Meatballs which he seemed to enjoy.
4/24 MK for opening and a nap and pool in the afternoon
Le Cellier for dinner. I have been here before but no one else had been. It was a hit to say the least. This is the one restaurant that offered the children an appetizer off of the adult menu. We each ordered one and we shared.
For starters we had: Shrimp Cocktail - a cute presentation and very good, Caesar Salad - fresh and good, Musssels, DS and DGS loved them, Cheddar Cheese Soup for DIL and she enjoyed it and the Vine Ripened Tomatoe Stack - the tomatoes were a tiny bit "mushy". The Pretzel Bread was a hit too.
For Entrees we enjoyed: I had the Maple Glazed Filet and it was perfect! DS had the 14 oz Strip which he said was very good, DIL had the Salmon and she enjoyed it very much. The kids each had steak and they cleaned their plates. For desert we ordered Sorbet, Whiskey Cake and Creme Brulee and again we shared. The kids ordered the Chocolate Moose and they loved it.
This was a wonderful meal, and at this point DIL thinks Nana's suggestions are great
4/25 CRT Breakfast
Let me say a few things about this meal. It is outrageously expensive for breakfast and certainly not worth the price, just for a meal. We went for DGD who is a Princess freak and the experience and we enjoyed outselves. We paid OOP for this meal.
I was surprised by the quality of the food. I expected it to be bad.
The fruit was fresh and good, the bread selection included croissants, danish, blueberry muffins and all were fresh and tasty and the plated meal was not bad. The eggs were standard, but good, scrambled eggs, the bacon was bacon, the sausage patty was a sausage patty, the potato casserole was delicious and the stuffed danish was very good. As I mentioned DGS had a peanut allergy. The chef came to the table soon after we were seated to discuss his needs (I was overwhelmed by how many times this occured for us). DGS was given a special "bread selection" that they could insure had no cross contamination, and the chef specially cooked him pancakes. Very attentive service and a great experience. I am glad we went once.
Evening Nana and kids ate CS from Captain Cook's in the room, and DS and DIL went to Flying Fish, I don't know what they had, but they really enjoyed it.
4/26 Dinner at 'OHana. We had a great time and a good meal. We were celebrated with attention, leis, and a song for being the 50th party seated that evening. Cute and fun for the kids. We enjoyed the new menu very much. The Chicken Wings, salad adn shrimp were a hit with everyone. I thought the beef was good, the pork good, I didn't try the sausage but everyone else liked it and the turkey on the dry side. DIL thought her pork was dry, but mine was good. Everyone enjoyed the Bread Pudding and Ice Cream dessert.
We finished the night with Wishes in the MK. A perfect end to the night
More to come.
