It's a few days late but with all the unpacking, laundry and getting back into work and regular life, I haven't had much time to compile a good review yet. BUT! The time has come...I give you, my review.
The Cast: Myself, 22 and my Mom, 52...on the Dining Plan & stayed at POP Century. I am a former server so I understand the things servers go through but maybe that makes me a harsher critic? I know what it takes to be a good server and then I know what it takes to go above and beyond. I might be a little nitpicky but...that's what a review is for.
2/24 Lunch @ the Electric Umbrella
We ate lunch around 12:30 so obviously, we picked a really busy time. However, the line DID NOT BUDGE for a good 10 minutes when we first got there. They seemed extremely behind. Trays were sitting waiting on the counter to be filled with food and it just really backed up in there. I think a smoother system of getting people in and out would be good. The food there, good for counter service. Tasted fine, enjoyed the toppings bar. I had the double bacon cheeseburger and DM had the 1/4 lb. cheesburger. Both came with fries and then we both had the strawberry cheesecake. The very friendly CM gave us extra drinks and was very friendly to talk to. The expierence was good, a little on the slow side, but definately filled our tummys. We realized that both of us using our Counter Service at the same time was pointless. With all the food you get on the dining plan, one lunch at a time to split is plenty.
2/24 Dinner @ Whispering Canyon Cafe
Reservation was for 8:10 but they seated us at 7:45 (we were early!). We were seated in the corner away from most of the craziness but still had our share. The food was tasty, definately a great place to go if your craving some good ribs. The sausage was NOT good at all...tasted just like...I don't know. It wasn't good though. Mashed potatoes were DELICIOUS. Definately could of just had those and been completely happy. We both ordered the skillet. First out was the salad, which we did not care for. I didn't enjoy the dressing on it all that much. A bit too tart for my liking. The cornbread was very sweet and warm--tasted great. Our skillet came out very quickly after that and was filled with barbeque goodness...ribs, pulled pork, chicken, sausage, corn, mashed potatoes and beans. All of that was really yummy except the sausage. It just had an odd flavor to it.
Dessert time was next. We both had gotten milkshakes as drinks (their bottomless and GREAT) so we still had desert credits. We got chocolate chip cookies to go and took them back to the hotel.
Just my opinion....transportation to and from a park to a hotel resturaunt and then to your hotel is too complicated. Because of this, I doubt we'll do much more of this. By the time we'd walked all day around the park it seemed really troublesome to go to a resort to eat, to a park to get a bus and then back to our resort. There needs to be an easier way. But perhaps that was because it was our first day and we were tired.
Our server was nice, got the job done but didn't go out of her way to do anything for us. Several times other servers came over and helped us out since she didn't return often. I think this would be a great place if you have children and like games...but if your not with little people, the antics can be a little tiresome. All in all, a good expierence.
2/25 Breakfast @ POP Century Food Court
I had the breakfast fritatta and potatoes and DM had the breakfast platter. Neither were exciting or very good for that matter...nothing special. The food court seems fun and busy--the lines were crowded but move extremely quickly.
2/25 Lunch @ Cantina de San Angel
Split an order of Nachos, a churro and a coke. Payed OOP for a extra water. This lunch was mediocre. It wasn't too crowded, the CMs were friendly but the food was nothing special. Nothing to write home about. Or here, really.
2/25 Lunch @ Yakitori House
Split a sukiyaki beef and yakitori chicken with rice, a ginger cake and a coke. Payed OOP for an extra water. The food was really tasty! I lived in Japan for 3 months and this is definately authentic. Tasted just like the Japanese food I had there. Definately hit a good spot with me and made my tummy happy. Not crowded at all, got in, found a table and sat in air conditioning and enjoyed our lunch. It was a nice little escape from the hustle and bustle of Epcot and we really enjoyed this meal.
2/25 Dinner @ Le Cellier
Delicious. We each ordered the Cheddar Cheese soup...it was good but definately could taste the beer. Neither of us drink beer so this wasn't a good selling point but overall we enjoyed it. It was much better tasting when the pretzle bread was dipped in...yum. We also ordered a shrimp coctail. It was very tasty--the shrimp had been covered in the sauce and held the taste well. That covered some of the beer taste and left me with a positive opinon on the soup. Definately would order it again. We each ordered the mushroom filet on risotto. It was amazing. Quite possibly the best meal I have ever had. It melted in my mouth. MELTED. The filet was so tender, the risotto so creamy...I wish I could make something that tasted like this. Amazing. Simply amazing. Mom ordered the cheese plate for dessert--she didn't like it...well, most of it. She enjoyed some of the cheese but said some of it was really bitter. I ordered the smores from the childrens menu. Definately delicious and I felt like a little girl!
Our server, Mary, was great! She was so friendly, efficient and helpful. She had a great personality, very polite--offered plenty of advice not only on dinner but good attractions, times to see things, ect.
Breakfast 2/26 @ Donalds Breakfastosarus
There are two lines--one for hot food and one for cold. We really enjoyed this breakfast. The food was delicious, the server Jose was super friendly and the character interaction was great. I really enjoyed the breakfast pizza--tasted soo good. I want to figure it out and make it here at home. No complaints whatsoever on this breakfast...tasty, fun and a good time all around. Definately will go back there again and again!
Lunch 2/26 @ Earl of Sandwich
I had the All-American and DM had a chicken salad sandwich. Both were DELICIOUS! People on here aren't lying when they say these sandwiches are good! I'm not much of a sandwich girl but this sandwich....amazing. Both were very fresh tasting, looked appealing and pleased the stomach. We both agreed that mine was the better of the two, I think because it was warm.
Dinner 2/26 @ L'Originale Alfredo di Roma
Service here was extremely friendly. Both our server and our busboy were friendly, talked to us about their homes in Italy and about their lives there and here. The accordian player was super--definately made the atmosphere festive and fun...it was fun to sing along, wave our napkins about and just participate in some good ol' Italian fun. Service was fairly speedy except on DMs appetizer (fettucini alfredo). It was dropped in the kitchen so it took a bit longer.
We had fettucini alfredo and a ceasar salad as our appetizers. Both were good but I wish I had of ordered the tomatos with buffalo motzarella. We each ordered the sampler for dinner--lasagna, dumplings and ziti. The dumplings were not good...at all. They had some weird taste going on....not working for us. But we both liked the lasagna and the ziti. The ziti was best. We each had the chocolate mouse for dessert....YUMMY. BEST.DESSERT.EVER. Definately delicious....
Lunch 2/27 @ Pecos Bills
This was chaotic but not nearly as bad as the Electric Umbrella. The worst part of Pecos Bills was the toppings bar and finding seating. There were NO seats...and the toppings bar was out of everything. They were trying as diligently as possible to replenish it but they just couldn't keep up....people swarmed it as soon as anything was put out and it was just too much to try and conquer. I got a little from there but couldn't get everything I wanted. That's okay though--the burger was GREAT!!! We split a 1/4 lb cheeseburger and fries and got a brownie for dessert...
Lunch 2/27 @ Yorkshire County Fish Shop
The fish and chips were great! Exactly as they sound...just fish and chips. The batter was great though--that should of been an offering in istelf...it was yum! We split an order of the fish and chips, shortbread and a coke. Payed OOP for an extra water. The seating was nice and quiet, could look out over the lake and just enjoy the scene.
Dinner 2/27 @ Teppanyaki
This was a really nice last dinner. We arrived early and were seated right away, the chef was so sweet and friendly...everyone was so personable and friendly. This is a must for us everytime and this time didn't disappoint. We each had the salad as our appetizer--tasted great. I usually don't like the ginger dressing but this was really good...it wasn't too gingery but was great on the palate. I would of eaten more, had the offered.
For dinner, I had chicken and steak and DM had steak and shrimp. Both were great--came with vegetables (mushrooms, zucchini and onions), udon noodles, steamed rice and bean sprouts. Everything tasted so good....too much to eat though. We had so much food--couldn't eat it all. We gave our desserts to the people next to us and they seemed to enjoy them.
This sums up our dining expierence...I'll answer any questions I can, if you have any!!
