I'm going to disney Dec 3-10. I've made one AR for Akershus, but have made no other plans yet. I've promised DH that I would not over plan our vacation. I've made a list of suggestions in regards to what parks we might want to do on what days but I've promised to be flexible if we want to do something different. My plans are that when we get up in the morning we will deciede which parks we are going to go to for the day and a rough plan. Then i would see about making dining reservations that morning. Is this a reasonable thing to do? Can you get reservations the day of or do i need to do more planning ahead? Thanks for the sugestions everyone.

Yes, you can get dining reservations the day of, especially during the week you are going, which is historically a slow week (business-wise) for Disney. Just be aware you might not always get your first choice, so have a couple of places in mind before you make your call.

I would suggest a bit more planning, at least for any table service meals you want to do. Table service restaurants can get somewhat crowded and without a dining reservation you could end up with a wait of an hour or longer. Some popular restaurants, like Le Cellier, Brown Derby, 50's Prime Time, Crystal Palance to name a few may turn away people without a dining reservation.

I like to be flexible, too, but some planning is a good idea. At least then you have a DR for a restaurant. If during the day you change your mind, you can always call Disney Dining from any Disney phone and see if something else is available.

I am going to be there the same week and have had trouble in some places getting the times that I want. I have been trying for LeCellier since 90+10 and still can't get in for dinner! If you know that you want TS make ressies!

I called and managed to get a Dec 7th 2:25 lunch with Cinderella. Since we are not on a schedule of what we are going to do I wouldn't even know what time we would make reservations for. I think I'll stick with the plan on either the morning of or the night before plan our ts meal. As for maybe not getting our first choices, there are so many choices especially in epcot. I could eat there every night and be happy and eat something different. DH wants me to take it easy on this vacation. Out last real vacation we went on I got so uptight because we spent more time relaxing at the pool and not seeing and doing things. We had 2 day free Universal studios tickets and we only went 1 day. But by the end of the vacation I was relaxed and I didn't have a cranky 2 yr old. I still have over a month so i can still change my mind anyway.

This is how DH and I feel, too! We like to be somewhat spontaneous and so we have only made a couple of ADRs during the 14-15 times we've spent the weekend at WDW.
