Dining Reservations

What opinions does everyone have for the Crystal Palace's breakfast food and Akershus's dinner food? We have reservations for these two places but I am beginning to wonder if I should change them. This is the first time we will be doing the dining plan up from the quick service and I was wondering if there are other places I really should be looking at. Thanks!

The food at CP breakfast is good for buffet food. The character interaction is fun if you like Winnie the Pooh and Friends. We like dinner better, but if I can get a pre park ADR at CP I take it.

I have never eaten dinner at Akershus, but do like breakfast there as well. The character interacion is good, and if you are a Princess fan, this is a good use of TS credits.

I would try to get a lunch ADR at BOG. This is a CS option, which you have on teh plan, and it is a nice interlude on a MK day, giving you an inexpensive way to enjoy Beast's Castle.

If you like Character meals, 1900 PF at the Grand Floridian is really fun. It is buffet, the food is good, and the Stepsister and Lady Tremaine are hysterical. I know folks liek CIndy and her Prince, but honestly, we go for the Tremaine family. It is dinner and is also a good TS value.

If you are going to Fantasmic! anyway, I would suggest trying to get a Fantasmic! ADR at MAma Melrose in DHS. This package includes an appetiser with your TS meal, and IMO this is one of the best values on the DDP. It is one credit. Actually, I would book the package even if you really are on the fence with Fantasmic!. I know the later packages are gone, but even a 3:30 time is good, you get a late lunch, early dinner in.

If you want to head over to the Boardwalk area and the Epcot resorts, there are a lot of nice places to choose from. Please let us know what your plans are, and what your family enjoys and we can help more

In general I find that breakfast is usually your best bet when it comes to the character meals. Not only is it the cheapest option, but breakfast foods tend to hold up best in a buffet environment.

Specific to Crystal Palace it is pretty standard breakfast fare. The pooh's french toast is good and they also have an omelet station.

Haven't done Akershus for dinner, just breakfast, but we were very disappointed overall. The only food we actually enjoyed was the potato casserole and it may have just been the day we were there, but the princesses seemed to be the "B" group (aka not the best looking bunch of princesses we've seen).

For what its worth, the only character meal we really enjoy and have elected to return to is Tusker House. They have traditional breakfast food, but then compliment it with some unique African offerings. And of course you can't beat mickey and crew in their safari gear ; )

We have only done CP , as two adults, but we enjoyed it. As others have said, it is typical breakfast buffet food - nothing amazing and nothing horrible. The atmosphere is nice and when we were there all the Winnie the Pooh characters were out and about the whole time circulating.

I agree with another poster that if you can get a CP pre-park opening ADR it's definitely a great choice!!

We did Akershus for dinner a few years ago. Thought the food was very good at the time.

Thank you all so much. I really appreciate the choices that you all told me of the other restaurants. I think I might look into changing the one we have for CP. I have eaten there once before a long time ago so I think I will try a place we haven't ate at yet. Once again, Thank you so much

We did not like the breakfast buffet at CP - thought the food quality was fairly poor and the service was really slow. We tend not to make breakfast reservations (unless we get one about an hour before park open, but then you have to be up super early) since we like to spend the mornings at the park. I'd consider dinner at Boma, 'Ohana, Chefs de France, Teppan Edo or, as someone else mentioned, the Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose (even if you aren't that interested in Fantasmic). Other places that we thought had good food were The Wave (though not a ton of atmosphere), San Angel Inn, and House of Blues (Downtown Disney, though I wouldn't make a special trip just to eat there). I'm sure others will have recommendations.

I haven't been to Chef Mickeys in over 15 years. How is the food there? Breakfast or dinner
