Can a DVC member use the DVC 1-800 number to make dining reservations through member services? Or do you have to use the 407-WDW-DINE number?

Thanks.

Yes, you can make dining reservations thru the 800 MS number. It's the same option selection as if you were reserving a villa. :thumbsup2

Just for information, I tried making dining reservation through the general 800 number and had a hard time getting the times I wanted. After I hung up with them I called MS and I was able to get the times I wanted for same days I had asked for on the general dining number.

Please do us all a favor and report your experiances to the DVC Member Satisfaction Team. I had a lengthy discussion about this very subject last week and they told me that I was nuts.

DW tried to make CP ressies earlier, after MS closed, this evening and got a very UNINFORMED CM thru the WDW DINE #. WOW where does Disney find some of these ppl? Told her to hang up and wait till tomorrow for MS and try it again.....They should have a mandatory training class and have them read this board would help GREATLY..:thumbsup2

I have used both member services and wdw dine # and have been successfull with both, member services seem to be my preference though. They seem to be more knowledgable, helpfull and attentive.

I've had excellent service booking dining with MS. Pros who don't tell me "park admission is required" once I let them know we have APs or "it's a nonsmoking restaurant" for the 20th time in one call. I'm sold on booking dining through MS.

Thank you for all the replies.

I wish I would have asked the question a couple of days ago. Your responses have been very informative.

Yesterday, DW called 407-WDW-DINE to make reservations. By our count (using DVC vacation countdown), yesterday was 180 days until check in. (Our error though, it was 180 days and 17 hours).

Unfortunately, she waited on hold for 25 minutes (long distance), only to be told "you're too early, call back tomorrow."

Well, today she called MS (toll free, short wait) and was able to make all the reservations we wanted. MS was very helpful. :hyper:

Thanks again.

I would agree that I enjoy making my ADR's with MS. I called to cancel ADR's on the general number when we changed our vacation from September to October and was informed that somehow my CRT ADR was already canceled before I even called. The CM couldn't tell me how or why it was canceled but guaranteed me that it was canceled. I felt bad because I could tell she was getting irritated because I kept asking her if she was sure it was canceled because she couldn't give me a cancellation number for it but she was positive that it had been canceled. I called MS a couple days later to make new ADR's for October and was informed that I still had a CRT reservation for September and did I want to keep that.... What the heck?? :)

I'm just glad that Member Services said something because I believed that it was canceled even though I was confused as to how it got canceled and would not have been happy to get a "no show" charge.

Oh well, all's well that ends well. :)

I noticed when booking my CL package yesterday that the regular dining operator asked me what day I was checking in (didnt she know?) or do they not see dvc reservations????

I was not aware you could book ADR's through MS. I will do this for our April trip.

Only MS has access to the DVC Member data, that's why they ask.

Maybe it's just me, but I've always found the opposite of what folks above are saying. The WDW-DINE reps are great for booking dining. Always very helpful with added information and tidbits (getting timing right for fireworks, that sort of thing). The MS folks seem like they are just putting info into the computer.

Most of the WDW-Dine CMc I've had over the years have been great too. But I've had the very occasional one that seems to be a little lost or who finds it necessary to repeat unnecessary info for every reservation... I'm usually making 20 or so at a time.

So far every MS rep has been efficient. But the primary reason I will be using them is that the call is free.:goodvibes

Once I found out I could make reservations via member services that's all I've done. The member services people have been just as helpful and engaged as any WDW-DINE cast member I've made reservations with.

I had a different experience when trying to book a CP dinner reservation for our upcoming Christmas trip the other day. MS did not have any availability for any restaurant the day I called (about 9:20 am). The MS rep told me that she couldn't believe everything was already booked solid and asked me to wait while she checked a few things out. When she came back on the line, she told me that for some reason MS didn't have availability, but that the regular WDW-DINE did. She then transferred me to the regular number, where I was able to get what I wanted.

Needless to say, I couldn't give this particular MS rep high enough praise when I participated in the survey following my call.

Try Goog-411, its free. The number is 800-goog-411. They will even connect you for free. No long distance charges, the only part of the phone call recorded is when you say your request. Hope this helps. It really works great when your around a city you don't know and need to get info. JW
