Hello all :wave2: We just booked our upcoming September trip to the World today...finally!!! My mother in law, father in law and nephews have decided to join us on this trip and it will be their first time. We've never traveled at Disney with another family, so it will be interesting to see how things turn out. We have booked our reservation's separately for personal reasons; however we do plan to do some, if not all, of our sit down meals together. With that being said, I'm wondering how our dining reservations will work? Do we just book our reservations for roughly the same time and then ask if we can be seated together or near each other if possible? I understand that both parties sitting together without cast members being notified ahead of time could be an issue and will completely understand if they can't accommodate us; however I am just curious.

Just make the reservations for the amount of people going to be at the dinner. If some are on the dinning plan, some paying cash, that is fine. They usually ask you when you sit down, who is paying how. I have gone with big parties and have always paid only my bill. Anything over I think 6 people they add the 18% tip. So just watch that. I usually give them 20 anyway, but just keep that in mind.

We've always done the dining plan and like you, we have always been asked how we were paying, whether we were on the DDP, etc. so that does make sense. We usually tip 18-20 percent, so that won't be an issue as well.
