Dining Reservations changes questions

I have an issue that's come up and I need the expert advice of the Dis'ers. My family and I (party of 4) had booked a trip from Oct 31-Nov6 with Dining reservations scattered within. We had friends of ours going at the same time (party of 3). I booked all the dining reservations under my name with my credit card for 7 of us at that time. Now we can't go at that time and have moved our trip to December.
My issue is how do I change my current reservations to their name with their credit card or do I just leave them and drop the number to 3 instead of 7? I have all of their information. Credit card, Disney resort reservation number. I called the dining reservation number this morning and was told I couldn't do it. I could drop the number in the party to 3 and leave it at my name and credit card which I might do. I would just hate for something to happen and I get charged for No Shows or something more.
Has anyone ever had to do something like this?

You can't change the name on the reservations. WDW ADRs are not transferable.

Your friends would either have to book new reservations, or check in under your name, and you won't be able to change the credit card hold - if they don't show up at those restaurants, you'll be charged.
