Dining reservations 3 or 4 top?

I'm wondering if the system is having trouble making our reservation because we always say 3 guests instead of 4. Does anyone know if there's a difference in the availability process for 3 or 4 guests? Because if it's easier to get a reservation for 4 I'll put 4 then just say one guest couldn't make it.

I tend to see the same openings come up whether I request 3 or 4. But booking 4 and showing up for 3 would not be a problem. You wouldn't be penalized.

We have the same issue with booking 5 vs. 6. I tend to check for both and USUALLY see availability the same for 5 and 6, but occasionally, it shows for 6 and not for 5. If that's the case, I book the 6 and just show up with 5.

The booking system has a known glitch for those trying to book an odd numbered party so try for the correct size first and if nothing comes up, try adding one more to make an even number. The system wants to fill every seat at a table and since the majority of tables are even numbered tops (2,4,6...) it bypasses a 4 top if you only need a res for 3. Add one more person and often table availability will appear. As long as at least one person shows up for the reservation you will not be charged the $10 penalty for the "missing person." When searching for an even number be sure to include everyone in your group no matter how young or eating or not because of fire code regulations so for a party of 3 look for 4, don't look for 2 or you run the risk of one person not being seated and having to eat elsewhere.
