We had all our reservations made.. and have already made alot of acceptions because we booked late :( but.... I just had an aunt, decide she wanted to travel with us, which makes our part 9 instead of 8. I have 3 VERY small children (not highchair tho) and do you think some places that i was unable to change our reservation, would give us a hard time about squeezing in the extra person? I dont mind making it tight because of her... we just were not able to change at least 2 reservations (whisp canyon, and chef mickeys) ... i dont want people to think i am trying to get one over, but i am... chef mickeys has NOTHING avail. already for the WHOLE week. AND I cant go to disney... w/o going there :( Opinions or experiences??? PLEASE!

well, guess I'd decide who do I want to upset more, the kiddos or the aunt, lol.

Seriously, though...I'd just tell auntie that we're so glad she decided to come, but we're also sorry, because we tried to change the reservations for such-and-such and we couldn't at some places - no extra space showing available. So, does she want to go along with you and see if they can fit her in at the last minute...knowing the answer might be "no" and she might get turned away (emphasis that she would get turned away, not you & the rest of the family) or would she rather just take a break at the resort & eat counter service by the pool or something? I know it's be a bummer to tell her she has to eat alone, but I guess when you're a Jill-come-lately, you just have to expect some adjustments cannot be made at the last minute.

Good luck...wishing you pixie dust that it all works out OK:wizard:

I agree.

Because of fire codes, they can't just put another chair on the end. And since tables are generally set up for and even number of people, going from 8 people to 9 is often impossible.

Just as a thought, on some of these ressies, instead of trying to change 8 to 9, which is difficult or impossible, you could keep your 8 and see if you could make another reservation for one or even two at or around the same time. Having a reservation for 8 actually be 7 is not nearly the issue that 9 would be, and two of the adults, or one adult and one child, could sit together apart from the party.

I think that is a good plan!:)

Otherwise, you need to know that Disney is under no obligation to seat your extra guest. You can ask, but they simply may not have any room. And going from 8 to 9 people you will need a larger table(s).

I agree with Catne, explain as nicely as possible to your aunt that you couldn't add her to your reservations, no matter how hard you tried! And that she can come along and see if they can seat her, but if they can't, the rest of you intend to stay and eat. Your aunt could always eat at The Wave or even the California Grill, if they have a table available too.

I can only speak for one of the restaurants that you mentioned. At WCC when you check in, tell them that you have 1 extra person and that your party is now 9. The table size is no different from an 8top, it's just adding an extra seat and place setting.

HTH

Yes, unfortunately each kid counts as a whole person. :goodvibes

It's unlikely that you'll be able to show up with a larger party and be seated, so keep trying to get a new ADR. You might try booking parties of 5 and 4,which may be easier.
