I don't usually post dining reviews because I am not good at it but I felt that I owe it to my fellow Disers to give back a little.
We are a family of four in our mid 40's, DS (18), DD (16). We are adventureous eaters and enjoy trying a new place on every visit.
This trip we had the following ADRS:
O'Hana
Kouzzina (cancelled)
Paradiso 37
Fulton's
Citricos (Thanksgiving)
House of Blues
Jiko's
Paradiso 37, Kouzzina and Citrico's were the only ones that were new to us this trip.
O'hana Dinner- We were seated promptly as we had a late reservation. Unfortunately even though the restaurant was beginning to clear out we were seated at a table with an obstructed view of the Magic Kingdom so we didn't get to see the fireworks from out seats.
O'hana is a festive family dining experience. Not very romantic. As soon as we sat down the server took our drink orders and within minutes returned with a platter of chicken wings and potstickers. Both were yummy. The sauce is delicious. I ordered the drink special, can't remember the name. It had the flashing ice cube and was very light on the alcohol.
Shortly after the wings were placed at our table, a server came by with steak on a skewer. The steak was one of my favorites. Next came shrimp, pork and turkey. The shrimp was the type you have to peel but since they are so big is was easy to peel with a knife and fork. The pork was my least favorite because it had little flavor. Everything was good and we were stuffed in less than an hour. Service was very quick. Dessert was the bread pudding with ice-cream for the table. It was good and gooey. Dinner was as we expected, enjoyable and filling.
Paradiso 37- This is a new place and you can tell they are still trying to get it together. We arrived in time for our reservation and were seated immediately. I made the reservation on Open Table. We were offered outside or inside seating. I asked which place was quieter and the hostess could not tell me. I asked if we could be seated upstairs away from the bar and the live music and she said they didn't have anyone working upstairs at this time. There were still people seated there but the section was closed. She sat us close to the entrance. The music was LOUD. I had read about this but I have to tell you that it was LOUD. It was very difficult to have a conversation. It was loud when the musician was playing and it was loud when it was piped in. They need to lower it a couple of notches.
We ordered the chicken and chorizon skewers and the chips with 3 dipping sauces. Both were good. The portions were not big. For dinner we ordered the Short Ribs, the Tacos and the Quesadillas (Appy). We were never given drink menus so I ordered a margarita which was ok. It took a very long time for dinner to come out. The waitress explained that the short ribs take a long time but we could tell that they were just really behind on our order. It took almost an hour from the time we sat to the time our main course was served. The Short Ribs were very good. Tender and moist in a wine glaze, yum. The Tacos were small but good and the quesadillas were just okay. For dessert we had the Tres Leches which was a little dry. Overall dinner was okay but the music was a deal-breaker for us. It was just way too LOUD.
