When we make our ADRs, our main consideration will be theme/atmosphere/fun. Don't get me wrong, we don't want to subject ourselves to bad food on purpose...the food is just not our top priority.

I have a bunch of ideas from lurking around here and looking at photos, but I thought I'd put it to the experts rather than risk getting it very wrong!

For fun definitely 50s Prime Time Cafe. It is an absolute laugh - food is good too. :thumbsup2

Beirgarten and 50's Prime Time are a lot of fun and the food is very good.

For fun, we love Whispering Canyon Cafe, the 50's Prime-time, and the Sci-Fi.

We really enjoy Biergarten, Sci Fi (the food isn't that bad; we always stick with burgers and milkshakes) and Crystal Palace. Chef Mickey's is also a lot of fun, but I don't think the food is as good as other character meals.

I really liked San Angel in Mexico for the atmosphere and the food was pretty good to. (There is no exciting show or anything but the atmosphere where you feel like you are dining below a volcano is pretty cool)

Whispering Canyon Cafe and 50's Prime Time were both a lot of fun. We are looking for the same thing as you, we want fun with our meal! This year we are going back to Whispering Canyon and trying Ohana's and Biergarten. We are trying to decide on the rest. (maybe Sci-fi too). We are hoping for some good ideas from this thread.

Face character meals (CRT, Akershus, 1900PF) are nearly always good bets, particularly if you are willing play along.

Sci Fi was a hoot.

Coral reef is an unusual setting.

The belly dancer at Marrakesh is fun.

I think we have similar needs/desires, lol! DH & I are childless, often travel with others who are childless, but love WDW and want atmosphere & good food!!!!

With that in mind, our favs/must-dos are:

Biergarten for sure!!! Amazing food, drink, service and atmosphere (oi, oi, oi!!!)

Bistro de Paris. This one's a bit more quiet and foodie, but the atmosphere, food and service is some of the best of WDW property. They also take the DDE. No children's menu and they don't accept the DDP. Menu is really creative and the dining room is generally quiet ;)

Jiko. Amazing wine list. Amazing. Generally very good service and excellent menu items. The filet over mac & cheese with the wine reduction was featured a year or so ago on the Food Channel. I would, however, urge you to just keep an eye on the reviews. The head chef just changed over, and I must say our portions were micro-sized since the change compared to years' worth of other visits. I'm hoping it was just an off night. Beautiful atmosphere. Go a bit early and check out the resort. Talk about atmosphere! There's a very nice lounge above another restaurant Boma. There's also a wine bar in the waiting room of Jiko.

Ohana, at least for breakfast. We've never gone for dinner and have seen hit or miss reviews, but the Mickey and Stitch character breakfast is too much fun, even for adults. The food is served family style, too, so no getting up to go to a buffet and possibly missing the characters at your table. Also, you don't have 200 people touching your serving utensils :goodvibes It's a great way to start out your MK day -- seriously gets you in the spirit, especially if you're seated in the dining room that overlooks the castle. The place breaks out into song and dance with one of the popular songs from the movie Lilo & Stitch. Food is standard breakfast fare, eggs, bacon, sausage, a breakfast bread with pineapple in it, Mickey waffles.

Another vote for '50s PTC. Really unique atmosphere. Remember to keep your elbows on the table, wear a hat, don't take note of what color the soap is in the bathroom, and above all else, do not clean your plate ;)

Those are our must-do TS choices. We've eaten at other places that honestly just don't wow us in the atmosphere nor food departments.

-----------

CS -- really anywhere in Epcot in the World Showcase. The only place I personally wouldn't eat is America, lol, because I can get that any ole time. The CS is very, very good and very fun in Epcot.

MGM, avoid CS. Fill yourselves up at '50s PTC.

MK, our favorite CS is Pinocchio's Village Haus. If you get there early, you can get a seat that overlooks It's a Small World. Also, it's a nice change from burgers and pizza. Something has happened to the CS burgers in the last four months! Blech!!!!! Anyway, the Figero Fries at Pinocchio's Village Haus are something not to be missed. Think a BLT over a tub of french fries, with nacho cheese and ranch dressing on top. Good things :thumbsup2

Columbia Harbor House at MK is also good, but the atmosphere is lacking a bit. It's just like any ole CS.

A hot dog at Casey's right there on Main Street, grab a table or shady patch of grass and enjoy the castle is pretty cool atmosphere. They're pretty good hot dogs, too.

Can't help on TS at AK. We haven't tried Yak n' Yetti, nor the new Tusker House. We do spend quite a bit of time at the Dwarma Bar in Africa, tho. They make a stellar -- STELLAR -- Bloody Mary. They don't accept the DDE, but if you tell them you have it, they'll make your drinks c-r-a-z-y strong. Asking for enough olives in the bloody marys' constitute a light lunch for us and we're good 'till dinnertime :hyper:

I guess that's about it.

Have fun & welcome to the DIS!!!!!!!!

raglan road
50's prime time
biergarten

better food, less "fun" (still good-great atmosphere tho) :rolleyes1 tutto italia, wolfgang puck cafe, boma or jiko, coral reef

best cs: wolfgang puck express, earl of sandwich a close 2nd

Hoop Dee Doo is great for fun... Great show, good food, go for the good seats up front since money is not really a factor. We sat only a few tables back and it was terrific! So much fun.

Also love the Whipsering Canyon Cafe and Sci-Fi for the fun aspect.

For fun I strongly suggest Raglan Road. The music is fantastic, the drinks are wonderful and the food lives up to the rest. There is also a dancer that is a lot of fun to watch. Just make sure to make your adr for later since the entertainment usually starts close to 8 or even 9. Also you are then right outside Pleasure Island. I have never been but after reading up on the Adventurer's Club, I am looking forward to giving it a try in April.

For more fun places to eat, Teppan edo in the japanese Pavillion in Epcot is always a lot of fun. You sit at a grill while the chef grills up your food with a bunch of fun antics and jokes. Ut always makes for a great group dinner with friends.

We went to California Grill on our one date night last trip in September and it was by far the bext meal and atmosphere of the trip. Our waiter outdid himself and we left the restuarant with a very warm buzz more than happy with our experience. You will absolutely love CG.

Have fun!!

I would suggest Crystal Palace and Cali Grill is a great place to go for your birthday!!!!!

Have Fun!!!!!!

One more vote for The Hoop Dee Doo Revue. It's a great show and the food, while simple, is very good. I'd also recommend The Adventurer's Club. Hard to describe, but I love it.

I agree with what everyone else has mentioned...We have also enjoyed the following restaurants with our friends (20s-early 30s) for a good time.

Beaches 'n Cream - No ADRs avaialble
Le Cellier
Planet Hollywood
House of Blues

Of course, hit up Pleasure Island at night. It is a blast...

This is great, thanks!...the shortlist is coming along nicely :dance3:

I'm now addicted to these clips. So cute.

Crystal Palace: I'm thinking birthday breakfast here? Big fan of Pooh and friends.

Places I'm not so sure about: Whispering Canyon and Hoop-dee-doo...reading about them gave me the impression the fun element would only actually be fun for children...feel free to tell me I'm wrong. I'm such a newbie at all this. :teacher: Could just be the particular reviews I've read.
