Hi all - perhaps a fresh set of eyes can work this out for me.

My question is: Can you purchase 2 different dining plans for 1 day for everyone in your party?

The senario:

Day 1 (check in): DDxP plan - Snack for lunch, dinner at Cali Grill
Day 2: QS plan - QS for lunch, dinner at Captains Grill (I guess I have a "Grill" thing going on! :rotfl:)
Day 3: DDP plan - QS for lunch, dinner F! @ Mama's
Day 4: DDxp: Teppan Edo for lunch & Biergarten for dinner - extra TS for day 4.

If I could purchase BOTH DDxP & QS for check in day then lunch would be QS & I wouldn't have an extra QS on Day 4.

Or does anyone have a better idea?

You may know this information about the Dining Plan already --
Here goes - Two years ago - the last time we were at WDW with the dining plan (2 Quick Service and 1 Table Service per day) we were able to use the credits as we wished.

By this - we had a Quick Service breakfast at the resort - then in Epcot at lunch used Table Service in Italy - then a late Table Service dinner in France.

Later in the trip, we had all Quick Service meals for one day since we used an extra table service on our Epcot day.

Hope this helps your planning.

Which dining plan offers 2 quick service meals & one table service meal?

Quick Service plan - 2 quick service meals & 2 snacks
Disney Dining Plan - 1 quick service meal, 1 table service meal& 2 snack
Delux Dining Plan - 3 table service meals & 2 snacks.

You can use the Deluxe any way you please for your three meals. You can do a quick service and two tables or two quick service and one table or switch out one adult meal for four snacks.

Goodness, wasn't even thinking about spending all that money to use the DDxP for counter service meals. For us, economically, that would not make sense.

My way would cost $851.00 for 4, while doing DDxP for all that time would cost $1,264.00

It's not worth trying to segment for that situation. I'd just get the regular DDP or the Dx plan depending on whether appetizers are important to you for each person or not. You'll have to pay OOP for some options/meals/people if you do the regular plan but likely not to the tune of $132 per person over the 4 night trip that the Dx plan would be more. Maybe you could shift one of TS meals to CS or maybe you could pick the cheapest meals during your stay and pay OOP. You can also take 3 snack credits and get a meal for breakfast or lunch in many circumstances. Oftenl this type of shorter visit is perfect for the DDP for many people even when it doesn't work for longer trips.

Remember you don't purchase the plan by the day, you purchase it by each night of your stay. So if you are staying four nights, you could get a different plan each night if you wanted to. Your credits each day would expire at midnight of the check out day (or the day your next dining plan started - you next check in day).

?? Really??

Would this require checking in and checking out each day?

I am staying 7 nights in AUG, can I just get the Deluxe for the middle 5 nights?

You can have your trip segemented and then add the plan for the nights you want.

We have been told that you would be required to get new keys on the days the plans switch but with the segemented reservations, no switching rooms.

We are doing this in August--right now it looks like no plan for night 1, DxDDP for night 2, no plan for night 3, and DDP for nights 4 and 5.

Can renters get segmented reservations?

You can't do anything to the reservation. You have to ask the member to make the changes. And they might lose a segment of your reservation while they are segmenting. Plus you will have to pay them the cost of the dining plan to add it to the reservation.

To do this you would have to make your reservations in segments. Not sure if that guarentees that you will you will not have to change rooms, but they will try to keep you in same room. I thought of splitting our trip into two segments. Since I already made one reservation I was told that once they started the process, my rooms could be lost as someone might reserve the room before the cast member can make the change. I decided not to risk doing that.

As far as the DDP, QS,DDP, ... nice planned out use of meals. I would fear the screw up the cast members could make from it.
For me, not worth the stress.

I would do the DDxP the first 2 nights, nothing on night 3, DDP night 4, OR
DDxP for the first 2 nights and nothing for the last 2 nights (pay oop).

The reason that I say this is that by doing the DDxP on the first two nights, you'd have 6 TS credits and 4 snack credits to use over 3 days. Remember that the DDxP plan will give you an appetizer, entree, and desert PER person. Usually by the time my hubby and I ate our appetizer, we could only eat a little on the entree. It's one thing to share an appetizer, but on this plan, each adult gets one!

Also, if you break up the plan like you have it, you're going to wind up with 12 refill mugs. That's why I suggested 2 days in a row of the DDxP followed by DDP - that only gives you 4 mugs (or maybe you want 8-12 mugs?). Part of the value in one night of QS is the mug- otherwise, you're really not saving much if anything with that plan, esp if you just have it for one night.

So - for example

Day 1 - DDxP plan - 2TS + snack
Day 2 - DDxP plan - 2TS + snack
Day 3 - no plan (use credits from day 1-2 by midnight) - 2TS + snack

at this point you have one snack left to use by midnight day 3, then

Day 4 - DDP or oop - on this one, you'd have to add up DDP vs what you might expect to pay oop for restuarants on this day.

I just speak from experience that on the DDxP that unless your family is a heavy eater family that you may have a lot of leftovers that are great to use up and not waste b4 you leave. We had things like fruit salad that I got as a desert (so I had for breakfast one morning), half a steak from Le Cellier because the appetizers filled us up so much so we had for lunch or small dinner, etc. You could also move up the DDP to day 3 and have all those credits roll to day 4 by midnight, but I'd only do this if you have an earlier flight on day 5.

finally -if you do the DDxP on first two days and only DDP on day 3 or 3, you will cut your re-check-in from 4 times to 3. If you do DDxP for first two days and oop the last two nights, you'll cut you're check-in times to only 2x.

hth :)

Your information is incorrect. Many people have posted here that you just need to find the right CM to segment your reservation. Some CM's don't know how to do it. I have also heard people have had sucess sending an email to Member Services. That is what I have done. I am waiting right now to hear back. We just want to do one day of our trip with DDP.
