Hi ,We are making our first trip to WWD on Dec 3 ,staying for one week with our 11 year old daughter .We will be staying at AK. We are not sure if we should take out dining plan or it better to dine out on our own without plan.
Also how far in advance do we need to make dining reservations.thanks

You'll want to start making your ADR's (advanced dinner reservations) 90 days from each day that you're there. Some of the restaurants and character meals fill up really fast - depending on which ones you're wanting to go to.

Boma at AKL is wonderful! We had excellent service and enjoyed the African food. My daughter, a very picky eater, ate well, also. I liked it so much I asked for almost every recipe!

thanks, So this is our first trip ,we can use so advise about dining. Is it
worth to take the dinning plan out. We are going to WWD for 7 days in Dec.
We are mixed if it better to use the plan or dine without the plan.

I think you need to determine how much you would normally eat a day and where you would like to try and then determine what the cost would be. If you would normally eat $35 or more a day, then definately go with the plan.

I just booked a 10 day visit with the plan (free!) and I am wondering how in the world we are going to eat so much. We would never do an appetizer, entree and dessert for each person. I have two teenage sons and my husband who is a big eater and I don't think we have ever ordered more than one appetizer for us to split, 3 or 4 entrees for the 4 of us and 1 or 2 desserts to split. Portion sizes are so huge that we can barely finish what we would normally order. I know there will be food wasted on the plan if we order every item. It will be fun to go and choose anything we want without thought for the cost but if it wasn't free, I definately would not do the plan. We just can't eat that much.

Every family will be different. Whichever way you go, enjoy your trip. AKL is a very nice place to stay.

It is a hard call with an 11 year old, she will be charged as an adult ($35). It is a lot of food. However if your daughter ordered from the adult menu at a sit down it would easily be a $25 meal with a drink and dessert. Also you can share meals and save credits for an extra meal.

Both Boma and Jinkos is on the plan so it will not be hard for you to use those TS credits. We love food so it was something we knew we wanted to do. Disney has some really fantastic places to try.

One thing you could do is a split booking. You book two stays back to back and have the CM at CRO link them. You can add any length MYW tickets to a package it does not have to = number of nights you book. Here is an example (using an 8 night stay) You could book a 4 night package with 7 day MYW tickets and dining for those 4 nights. Then book a 4 night room only resservation and ask for it to be linked. Request the same room for both stays.

This way you can try a couple of the really nice places and see how the dining plan works for you. There is a great thread here about maximizing the value of the plan.

thanks for the replys. Since there are three of us, we are looking to share
our meals.Would have breakfast, and order dinner for 2 and share .Is the meal plan worth it? Some days we would like to dine in a fine resturant and one or two days in an average place. We are not thrilled about the price of the dining package, bur realize that food in WWD can be expensive. There is only so much my 11 year old daugther can eat.
