Okay please no flames here as I know certain questions can stir things up and I am only asking because I truly do not know if this is allowed or not. We have friends that live in the Orlando area that may be coming our last day there. We will be on the dining plan (there are four of us) so my question is if we manage our meals accordingly and have 6 TS left for our last day can we use two of those for the two people that will be meeting us or is that not allowed because they are not staying on site with a package? Again no flames please I truly do not know the answer to this. TIA

You cannot use your dining credits to pay for people who are not part of your dining plan reservation.

I'm pretty sure they won't let you do this. I think they can check how many are on your plan and will only let you use meal credits for that many people.

You are only able to purchase the total number of meals listed on your room key. Credits are nontransferable.

Ok, I get that the room key willl specify the amount of people but can't you still use your credits any way you see fit? Another words you can't tell the server that you'd like to use 6 of your TS credits for the meal? Not sure it makes any difference to them.

No, because the other 2 people are not on the plan. It does make a difference because the 2 outside guests are not on the reservation. Credits can be used in any way the resort guest decides to use them, but only for the ones who are registered in the room and on the plan.....not outside guests.

Discussing ways around Disney policy is STRICTLY prohibited on this forum. Any further discussion related to ways to break Disney guidelines may result in this thread being closed and likely deleted. Here is the info from Disney's dining plan brochure...

Redeeming Your Meals
Present your Key to the World card to the server or cashier at the
time a meal or snack is purchased and specify the number of
meals or snacks being redeemed for Guests ages 10+ on your
Disney Dining Plan and the number of meals or snacks being
redeemed for Guests ages 3-9 on your Disney Dining Plan.

You may not redeem meals or snacks for any Guests who are not on
your Disney Dining Plan.

This CLEARLY states the rules. You may choose to break them if you wish, just don't discuss it here.

That is kind of why I was unsure because I had read stories about people who had leftover credits their last day and have paid for meals for people behind them in line. These were CS not TS but none the less they were not using them for themselves. Well it seems like there are mixed feelings on this. Maybe I will call someone at disney dining and ask the question just to see what they say. Thank You all for your answers and especially for no flames :thumbsup2

It is the wrong thing to do as it is against the rules of the plan . However ; you are also supposed to show your resort ID when you get on a Disney bus but , does anyone do it ? It is a matter of your ethics and the server . Rules are rules but , Disney is very lax in the enforcement department . If you attempt this , I am betting you will be successful .:rolleyes1:cool2:

The reason you don't have to show your resort id when boarding a bus is not because of lax enforcement of the rules but that you don't have to because transportation is free for everyone so no need to. I was once asked for resort id but that was in 1977.

But back on topic, I had heard that starting maybe a year ago they either created a rule and stopped allowing it or clamped down and told CM's to enforce the rules. I haven't read a pay it forward thread in awhile.

One little dirty secret about the DDP and any pre paid service. The cost structure has built into it a certain amount of "wasted" credits. When you don't use a credit its a plus for Disney. In other words they assume that a certain number of people will not use all their credits and price it accordingly.

As others have said your room key will say 4 adults (for example) so you will only be allowed to use 4 credits at any given time. Even if you have additional credits, you will not be allowed to use 6 because your KTTW card says 4.

OP - thanks for asking.

I was wondering too. My DD is staying in a room with her friend. My family (room) is on the dining plan, but the room my DD is staying in is NOT. I want my dd to eat with us because I don't want her subsisting off chicken nuggets and fries all week. So I guess she's just OOP at our table.

There are no "mixed feelings". It is clearly stated in the dining plan brochure that you can not use additional credits to feed anyone that is not on the plan. Calling disney dining will do nothing because they are not in charge of that sort of thing.

This is from the FAQnsection of the pdf of the Dining Plan brochure on the Disney website:

Q. Can I use my Disney Dining Plan to redeem meals for friends or family members who
are not included in my reservation or have not purchased a Disney dining plan?
A. Sorry, you may not use your Disney Dining Plan to redeem meals for friends or family
members who are not included in your reservation or have not purchased a Disney
dining plan.

And here's a link to the Dining Plan page. You can choose the pdf for your2011 or 2012 plan:

Purple Figment - thank you for the link. I have looked at that before but apparently I did not scroll far enough to the bottom or I would have seen my answer.
Lily WDW maybe "feelings" was not the word I should have used but "opinions" instead because as you can see from reading the posts there were definately mixed "opinions". However I now know the answer and that is great, by asking questions and reading other peoples I learn new things about Disney everyday. :thumbsup2
