Dining plan with resort stay

Can I book a just a resort and the dining plan? I have tickets left thAt have the no expiration option.

Not unless you have an annual pass or have a DVC points reservation.

In most cases you do have to purchase a package, including tickets, to be able to add the dining plan. There are a few situations in which you don't, but that does not include having left over tickets.

I know with the military discount we can add dining without purchasing tickets, as Disney assumes military members will also take advantage of the military salute tickets that can be purchased separate.

You can save the ticket for another time, you don't have to use them on that trip. They don't expire until you use them.

She can buy a one day ticket and then she'll qualify for the dining. I read that tip on Mouse Savers.

Just wanted to clarify that a 1 day ticket is needed for the DDP if you are paying for it; for free dining, you need a 2 day ticket.

I thought you could not use dining plan with DVC points reservation? Or was OP not talking about free dining plan?

You can pay for the DDP with a DVC reservation without having to buy tickets, but you are correct that free dining cannot be added to a reservation when using points.
