Dining Plan with a gift card

I'm staying on DVC when we go in December. I want to buy Giftcards to pay for the Dining plan when we get down there. Can I def. pay for the DP with a gift card? I'm so nervous to buy that many giftcards and not be able to use them for it.

No, I don't think that you can pay with the giftcard when you get down there. It isn't the gift card that is the problem, it is the "when you get down there" that is. The DDP has to be added (and paid for) before you get there (I believe it is 72 hours before for revenue rooms and 48 hours for DVC point rooms).

DVC members can still pay for the plan at check-in. I believe the new system allows prepayment, but doesn't mandate it. Yet.

As far as I know, a Disney gift card is an acceptable payment at any Disney-operated location. I know they can be used to pay off charges made to a resort room, so resorts are capable of accepting them.

I'm curious, though. Why gift cards? If you don't have or want to use a credit or debit card, why not just cash?

If you made your room reservation before October 14, you will still pay for the dining plan when you arrive.

Yes, you can pay for the dining plan with a Disney Gift Card. I am a DVC member and had the plan last summer. I used both Disney Gift cards and my Disney Visa reward dollars to pay for it when we checked in.

Of course, the rules were changed October 14th, and from this point on, anyone who adds the DDP to a DVC reservation (regardless of when it was made) will have to pay at the time it is added. But even then, they take the gift cards as well.

Good luck and have fun!

Well because Sam's Club has that "buy 100 Disney GC for $98. and change and get a $10 Disney Store GC for free" so I'm going to go buy like 8 of them for the Dining plan and then have $80 for free for the Disney Store! :)

Thank you for your answers everyone :) Wanted to make sure I could before I bought $800 worth and then couldn't use them! Could you imagine?!
