Has anyone purchased the dining plan for a 10 year old? Dh and I were considering the plan. We have a 10 year DD and a 5 year old DD. I see that the 10 year old needs to purchase the adult plan ($35). I thought is was odd, since she is able to order from the children's menus through age 11 I believe. Has anyone used the dining plan for a child this age. What are your thoughts on it?

After reviewing the menus on allears, we decided to go with the dining package - we have 10 and 7 year old sons. For some of the meals, the 10 year old will eat off the kids menu and the 7 year old will eat off the adult menu...he LOVES steak and ribs!! So for us, I think it will work out perfect! :flower:

We went with the dining package with DS11, DS8, and DD4 and DH and I. There was so much food, but for us and DS11, the option of having the adult choices for him was such a plus that it was worth it, it allowed us to splurge a bit and order some of the more expensive choices that are not our "norm". He is a really good eater too!

Good Luck,

the MYW Dining with a 10 year old. I am planning to try to schedule more sit downs. For the buffets that we go to we will pay the child's price out of pocket. We will then save the extra credits to go to Yachtsman at the end of the week. For the other sit down restaurants, I don't mind as she will appreciate the adult choices.

I have a 1o year old as well. We decided to go with the MYW as well because he can eat. My 7 year old still likes kid food. This will help him get more adult choices.

We were in WDW in April, and went with the Dining plan. Both DDs, were under 10, so it was a no brainer for us, We saved around $500, in 9 days. For our trip in December we are a bit undecided, but we are leaning towards it.

I plan to go thru the menus, and figure out the total savings for the family. My 10 year old, by herself, may not save as the rest of us, but when you take into account the OVERALL savings, I think we will still be ahead. Just maybe not by as much as before.

We haven't done this yet, but we are planning to the the MYW dining plan on our upcoming trip. Our DD10 is not a big eater, so I expect that she will usually order from the kids' menu (especially at TS) and we will pay for it out of pocket. Then we will use the additional TS credits for character breakfasts, signature dining, etc.

Use the menus on Deb's Website to see if you can really spend less the $35 a day for a decent breakfast, lunch, dinner at Disney world. Plus any yummy snacks your child might want.

I couldn't do it with my DD9. I would definitely recommend the plan for all kids. My daughter doesn't want to split meals at Disney. She wants her own food at Disney just like we have at home. She also wants 3 meals a day at Disney just like at home.

I print out the menus from Debs website and she picks here choices and we eat where we both agree we like the food. Its her vacation too - so we compromise so we both have a good time. We were recently there May 3 - 10 and we have a good time with this method.

Happy eating whatever you decide. All Disney food is good food to me! :cloud9:

We are going to WDW from Nov 18 - Nov 26th. Is the dining plan worth it? We plan to do at least 2 character meals. I have a DD9 and DS3. Is there a place that will give more info on the meals that are availabe and the restaurants that you can go to? I don't know if we would like sit down meals every night. Will that take away time at the park if it closes early? How do you use the plan, is it a card or paper? Any info will be helpful.
Thanks - Ann

I know DH and I plan to use it on our next trip, whenever that is.

We have two ten year olds and after we discovered that we could keep our email code discount and use the dining plan, we decided to use it, otherwise, we would not have done the dining plan. We will be staying 5 nights, but 6 full days in the parks, so, with spreading the plan out over an extra day, it drops the price per meal. For the buffets, we are going to pay out of pocket for the twins and use those extra credits for a sit down somewhere else, I think. I am still trying to work our how best to use our credits. We might add a signature dinner in there or something.

I think they should have a 3 tiered plan, 3-9 year olds be $10, 10-13 year olds $20 and 14 and up be the adult price and then adjust the child menu to 9 and under, but that is just my opinion.
