Dining Plan Usage Question

In regards to the standard Disney Dining Plan, are the Table Service meals allocated per person or to the entire room reservation and then shared from a common pool? This is for an 8 night stay with 8 adults and 1 child, all in the same two bedroom.

Specifically, we have two extremely light eaters in our party and I am contemplating purchasing the standard dining plan for everyone. We would then pay cash for the light eaters meals, and use the surplus credits to upgrade other reservations to Signature meals they would not attend. To be clear, all people mentioned would have the dining plan and be on the room reservation.

If my math is right, you'll have 72 TS credits and 72 QS credits that can be used in any way you want over your 9 days. With one child on the plan, 8 of those TS credits will have to be used to purchase kid's meals, but otherwise, you can use as many or as few TS credits at a meal as you want and pay OOP for what you want along with them.
