So it looks like DH and I will get to take our new foster son on his first trip to Disney at the end of next month. We have never done the DDP with little ones so I wasn't sure how this would work or if it is even allowed. I know with FD you have to buy 2 day tickets. Our little guy eats a ton so I know that we will be paying OOP for quite a few meals for him even though technically he is free. My question is can I upgrade him to a 3 year old and just save the tickets for later or does his ticket have to be scanned in order for his dining credits to work? I was thinking that even though we probably won't spend $175 on food for him, after 11 days of dining it may add up quick and be close enough that having the extra tickets to use later would make it worth doing now. Is that allowed? We may end up wasting some of his TS credits since we are trying to do more buffets/character meals for him but the CS and snacks I am sure he will go through with no problem.

I don't think his ticket has to be used. Others often report buying the tickets to get FD and then saving the tickets either for the next trip or to put toward the next year's AP, so I don't see why his would be any different. Hopefully someone who knows for sure will come along soon, but I think you'll be okay. Just don't lose those tickets!!

I'm not sure how the tickets would work.

However, we went when my son turned 3 (2 weeks before) and he is a big eater. We had no trouble at all. We used snack credits for any extras required and still had some extra credits at the end. I planned all of our TS meals to be an all you can eat either family style or buffet. Even tho he was under 3 these places all brought him out his own child's plate (Ohana and garden grill). We didn't have trouble at all sharing CS with him. We packed some quick snacks and breakfast foods which helped.

We took advantage of the free dining promotion when we had APs therefore didn't need to use the tickets. We had no problem using our dining credits without activating our tickets and we had no problem using our tickets in a later trip.
