dining plan - trading table service for counter service?

Is this still an option? Say - trading a table service meal for 2 counter service meals? We purchased the meal plan with counter service, quick snack, and table service and just am not sure we will be eating 7 sit down dinners.

you can ask at your hotel concierge desk, but the answer will probably be No...the only time they did that trade 1 table service for 2 counter service was during Free Dining when they did not have enough table service available for the crowds. Any other time of the year, there are table service seatings available so they don't usually approve trades. Now you may be able to get them to trade straight up, one table service for one counter service, but that's not going to be much of a deal for you since the table is worth a lot more than the counter service.

If you are staying 7 nights you'll have 7TS credits, does not mean it has to be 7 meals. There are lots of options to spend 2TS credits for some meals or meal shows. TS meals are also for any meal, not just dinner.

You should plan and make reservations for those meals prior to arriving at WDW. Once you are on site most slots are already filled so walking up will be really difficult and even scoring a ressie the day of is hard, though not impossible if you are flexible.

We did one late TS breakfast after a really late night in the park. We did one TS lunch after an early AM start in the park. The rest of our TS meals were dinners (one after our day at AK, another for the Fantasmic Pkg and a Signature meal on our arrival day as we did not do a park that day). We were very comfortable with our plan and enjoyed each meal.

This past Sept (during the free dining time) you could exchange a TS for one CS meal and then get a voucher for either 2 snacks or a little mesh tote thingy. A couple of years ago, during free dining you could trade a TS for one CS and then get a lanyard with two pins on it. I've used the DDP several times a year since it was first started in Sept '05, including free dining in Sept every year it's been offered, and have never heard of them trading one TS for two CS meals. There have been some reports of some resort food courts who will make a one for one switch (1 CS for 1TS), during nonfree dining times, but usually a manager must be called to approve it. I have never read of this happening in one of the park restaurants though. I can't see them ever allowing a 2 for 1 switch though. Can you imagine people over at the Pepper Market trying to get two rib eye CS meals, for one TS credit?

You can go to a 2 TS meal if you don't want 7 sit down dinners (signature restaurant, a show, CRT)

I think you lose a lot of value converting 1 TS to 1 CS. [If I pay $39.99 for an adult and eat two $15 counter service meals and a snack, I have not paid for the adult plan that day]. If sit down dinners aren't for your family, you may want to calculate the value out and see if the QSDP is better.
