Dining Plan/Split Stay Question

We are booked for 5 nights at POR then switching to WL for 6 nights. We are staying club level at WL so I definitely do not want a dining plan for that portion of the trip.

I was thinking of doing the DxDP for the 5 nights at POR. My question is this: will the dining credits still be usable on our check out (of POR) day even after we check in to our room-only reservation at WL?

Also, I am thinking that it will be a good move $$ wise to do DX those first five nights because I have CRT and 'Ohana booked and I have been wanting to try Yachtsman's Steakhouse really, really badly. So if I can dine in those places while on the DX plan, it might be worth the cost to change the first five nights to a package. We are annual passholders so I think we can do this without adding tickets.

Any help with this is appreciated! Thanks!

I know that the wording is that the dining plan is good until midnight on the day of checkout, so since it is a totally separate reservation, I think you should be OK, but hopefully someone else can confirm.

Also, YS is closing for a refurb end of August...not sure if they will be open for your trip?

Your credits will still be usable on the day you check out, even though you will have checked in at another resort (dining plan credits are good till midnight on checkout day).
The signature meals (CRT and Yachtsman Steakhouse) are still signature meals on the Deluxe plan, meaning that it will cost you two table service credits for each one. 'Ohana is still one table service credit. You can add the dining plan as an Annual Passholder. Before settling on the Deluxe plan, I'd consider how much you really want to eat each day (Deluxe comes with 3 counter-or-table service meals per day, plus two snacks), and determine the costs of using the Deluxe plan, the Standard plan, or just paying out of pocket. If you want to eat at a lot of signatures, the Deluxe might be worth it, but if you only want to eat at one or two, the Standard might be a better option.

I am looking at 3 signatures so far: CRT, YS and Fulton's. That's 3 signatures in a 5 night stay. I am definitely leaning towards DX for only the first 5 nights and if the credits will still be good until midnight on our check out day, it might be worth it.

We have done DX before. The first time was awful - poorly planned and too many people travelling with us. It got confusing! The second time we planned MUCH better and felt it was a good value.

I would plan the first part of our dining with a breakfast and dinner and just have a snack in between and do dinner at a signature. Then when we switch to WL, we would scale back and do more QS (plus we will have the lounge at WL for continental breakfast, snacks and appetizers).

Any other thoughts?? Thanks so much!

Sounds like you're already leaning that way, and, so long as you spend most of the credits, looks like it'll work out well. The plan of doing breakfast + signature dinner is a good one, as spreading out the food keeps you from exploding :). With 6 credits spent already between the 3 meals, and more than likely at least 2, if not 4, credits more for Signature meals. I'd say you're going to be fine.

The idea about lightening the load for the 2nd half the trip is a very good one too. By about the time you may be getting stuffed, you'll be cutting back down.

So, I'd say go for it :)
