dining plan questions

When using the dining plan, are all the meals put onto one person's card or does each person present their room key/ticket to "pay" for their meal? If they are all on one card what happens if some people are eating at other places? For example, we are travelling to WDW with another family and the reservation is in their name. While we are planning to be together a lot we are also going to have some time seperated. If all the meals are loaded onto his card, will we be able to use our "meals" without them being with us?

Does this make sense? I know what I'm trying to ask but it's not sounding right when I type it!

I think the meals are loaded onto each member's card, but they come out of a central "bank". So each member of the group can use their own card for their meal. But one member could also use their card and charge more than just his meal on it. It's like the room-charging privelages on the room keys- each member has it on his own card, but the charges all get added into one account.

Hope I explained this correctly! If some of you go to CRT, and the rest go to CP, you can still use your cards to charge the Dining plan for your meals. One member of the party can use his card, and charge all the meals of his party on one card. Or, each member could charge his meals seperately on his or her own card. Does that make sense? Sorry if it is confusing!

I would just verify with your party how many meals/snacks you're going to use.

A potential problem I could see, for example: let's say you were going with some teenagers or adults and they went to the parks on their own - if they kept buying snacks and used them up, you might end up without any and wouldn't know until you tried to buy some.

Just a thought.
