With the regular dining plan (not the deluxe) you are allowed 1 table, 1 quick service and 1 snack, right? so if you eat quick serv for lunch and table serv for dinner, what do people do for breakfast? i'm assuming you just grab granola bars or something like that? the deluxe plan just seems like such a large amount of food that I'm afraid we'd end up wasting credits...thoughts?

You can pay OOP for breakfast, or just use your snack credit to get something light.

Let me tell you, unless you're eating at multiple signatures on you trip, the deluxe plan IS too much food.

You may want to ask this over on the dining board too for more suggestions.

Since we stay at the BWVs each trip, we usually grab a quick breakfast in the room before we head out. Even if we stayed at a resort that didn't have a full kitchen, we would bring things that could be used for quick breakfasts. We have never done the deluxe dining because I don't want to spend the day getting from restaurant to restaurant for our ADRs. Way too much food. Years ago the only dining that Disney had was like their current deluxe and we tried it and it was way too much food and we ended up wasting a lot of food and park time.

I totally agree with this statement. We've done all 3 plans, using the QS plan on our most recent trip last week.

We did deluxe first back in 2008 and had were constantly on the run to make our ADRs. Got the free DDP in 2009, and it was much better than the first time. The QS plan last week was nice, since we could eat when we got hungry and not have to worry about changing plans to make a reservation.

I would say out of the three, the regular DDP was just right. I missed not getting to eat at LTT, 50's Prime Time or any of the great places in EP. DH and will only go during free dining times, so I think we'll just upgrade to the regular plan next time.

But to answer your question: yes, just bring along some granola bars, muffins or oatmeal with you to eat in your room. I like to save my snack credits for drinks or the various bakeries in the different parks! :cloud9:

DH and I split a CS for breakfast (they have a huge breakfast platter at POP) and use a snack credit for another side item. So for lunch we would get a burger and split it (they are big) and then usually a side salad or something. We also take along snacks like pretzels and a box of cereal and buy some milk, so that if we have a really late dinner ressie, we can each get our own burger, so that it keeps us satisfied til dinner.

We usually take along some granola bars or oatmeal squares to eat while waiting for the bus, but I have never been a big breakfast eater. Last time I ordered from Garden Grocer and that worked out great. I ordered bottled water, pepsi (I don't drink coffee, but still need my morning caffeine), bananas, yogurt, bagels, cinnamon rolls, crackers & cheese, etc.

We dont go with kids, so this was not an issue with DH and I.

We are late risers. So in the time it took us to get ready and head to the parks, we ate "brunch" at QS then had our TS for a late dinner.

You can get muffins and the like for your snack.

I did bring oatmeal sqares for the room incase we wanted something quick for breakfast, but I just ended up bringing them home. As it was we came home with one QS not used.

Even CS is so much food. Take a look at the pictures. I had a chicken wrap at Pecos Inn that was as big as my DS head. We could not eat that much food. Every meal has dessert. You will not be hungry.

I'm going to move this to our dining plan board.

We're not big on breakfast so usually have a bagel or muffin from the food court. A lunch or dinner ADR and a snack at some point work out very well for us.

We had only done the regular DP (1ts, 1qs, 1snck) but we are late risers too! so no problem here , my hubby isnt into breakfast so by the time we are out of the room we use our QS for lucnh, then we use the TS for dinner and the snack later or when we each feel like so...
next trip we are thinking on doing just the QSDP and pay OP for maybe just two of our favorites restaurants for nice dinners, we had came to the conclusion that the Deluxe is too much food and too much of your time at restaurants.
:hippie:

We always find the regular dining plan to be a lot of food. We always end up with unused credits and we are stuffed the whole vacation. Our last two visits we have stayed in a 2 bedroom villa so we had a kitchen and would just have a quick breakfast, bagels, coffee, or fruit and cereal, in the morning before we head out for the day. We are not huge breakfast eaters. Many days we would forget to use our snack credit or would be getting a snack just because we had the credit. I think that it is a lot of food for the money and a good value. If you dine at a table service every single day anyway then the dining plan is the way to go.

The last time I was at Disney, I used my QS credit for Breakfast each morning. I would bring my own water to the park so if I got a little hungry in the afternoon I would use my S credit. I usually saved my TS credit for dinner. I always save one TS credit for Breakfast at Boma. Most QS Breakfast sandwiches and platters are pretty large. That and my snack usually hold me over till Dinner.
